Premier League clubs vote to scrap FA Cup replays due to workload and then Newcastle and Tottenham turn around and play a friendly at the MCG less than 72 hours after their last Premier League game of the season

That's exactly how I feel Mr Meat. I've followed football my whole life and it has always been sleazy. Now the sleaze is of a different type but I just try to enjoy the actual game for what it is.

The reason City have dominated for the past few years is of course their money but also a planned approach to team/squad building. For example when Rodri first arrived to take over from Fernandinho, he was interchanged with him a lot and it was thought he would never be as good - by the time Fernandinho retired, Rodri was good enough that he wasn't missed. Similarly with David Silva, Yaya Toure etc.

On Chelsea, I actually think the best thing that happened for Poch was having so many injuries that he was forced to stick with
      Caicedo Gallagher
      Palmer Madueke Mudryk
      Jackson
for a few games and they have all benefited from having a settled system and personnel. For the first half of the season, he had so many players he kept on shifting them around and trying to find a system for them.

On Brighton, they actually had a good season up until half-way - 30 points from 19 games and into the final 16 of the Europa League. In 2024, it fell apart - 18 points from 19 games. I'm sure they will be fine with a good manager (after McKenna of Ipswich apparently), their injured players returning and a couple of obscure South Americans who turn out to be superstars.

      @KiwiPie

The have an elite Manager, structure and players.

They have also signed up and agreed to FFP/SNP regulations and ignored them totally.

What they have done is totally fraudulent and if the adhered to the financial regulations then they simply would not have been able to build the dynasty they have done so far. They may have still won a lot with Pep but they are not subjunctive to the same conditions that other clubs are due to a nation state running it.

They have 115 charges to answer. They will also get away with it.

Uefa found them guilty but due to time issues it was thrown out.

They can’t even fill their own stadium but last year had the highest revenue in world football?

      Its a joke

@DaGrubster it's farcical, and spits in the face of clubs that are trying to play by the rules. If you aren't going to enforce the rules, why bother having them?

Hat-trick to Lookman and it's 3-0 - always looked a huge talent but has struggled in England to get established.

If they come back from this to avoid defeat, it really will be a miracle.

A massive win for Atalanta, a relatively small club who have had great success under Gasperini and this is the crowning glory

Lookman was great for Fulham in the side (full of talent) that Parker (mis)managed in the EPL IN 20/21.

Dogmeat , I had to look up whether it was the same player. Another cock up on Parker’s part. Geez he cost us a lot with his negative attitude and game plans.
NB: Although if memory serves me right he tried to convert a penalty in a close game with a stupid panenka .

Bournemouth may have lost Richard Hughes to Liverpool which is a massive loss, but picking up former Roma boss as a replacement in Tiago Pinto looks like a solid gain

UCL Final in a cold North London this evening. Frantic first half hour, still 0-0 between Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund.

In reason #48 of "why do people care about Football at the very top" Real Madrid have just won the Champions League for about the 15th time in 18 years

                                  And promptly signed Kylian Mbappe

I really don't know why everyone didn't just let these behemoth clubs (and Spurs) fuck off and play in their own sandpit.

10 different winners in the last 24 years and 5 in the last 6 years isn't actually that bad

I reckon if you stretched that out to semi finalists you wouldn't add many clubs.

And considering you are talking a competition covering the whole of Europe, you've got the same 15 clubs represented at the pointy end every year. And much of that dictated by the QF and semi final draw.

It'll get worse next year. As per usual the formal change is designed for the increased wealth and protection of the uber elite.

Still not as bad as Super Rugby though
