@Duluth cheers, nothing on the brief piece on Wiki and nothing specific on his NZ Rugby profile either (just says at bottom 'career ending' that I missed on first reading)

    Regan King?

yeah why did he leave just as he appeared to be cracking it? Especially given he's a centre, a position we are rarely stacked at?

Really weak tackler. I remember one of the well connected Waikato posters said he hated any contact work. Probably knew he didn't have a long NZ career ahead of him?

that would pretty much do it

managed a few games up North i see.

regan was sraight out money more to be made up north.last i heard he had a season of club rugby anf heartland for mid canterbury ,so would imagine he didnt save much. sisters doing better though

@Duluth didn't he have injury issues including concussion(s)?

My recollection is he made the AB's very early and then suffered second season syndrome picked up a few injuries and decided to take NH money.

@ploughboy he has come out as having a gambling addiction. Mainly because he was accused of having ripped people off to fuel it.

King only played two seasons in NZ - 2002 and 2003. He played for the ABs before he did the Chiefs.

18 tries in 23 games for Waikato over those two years.

    Stanley Jr

he was superb. But you cna't mix a career as a Doctor with a rugby career any more.

Also was already done at like the start of the thread

    Ben Tameifuna, Rory Grice.

    That's a name I haven't heard in a while.

Sean Maitland? He's just retired too.

A few years ago, Grice was named best Nr.8 of the Top 14.

I remember reading that. I was disappointed when Grice left NZ as he had impressed for Waikato.

King in his prime was possibly the best attacking 13 in the Northern Hemisphere. Numerous 13s of the round in Heineken Cup. Had an almost Svengali ability to make people think he was going where he was not and thereby to stroll though quality tight defences untouched.

Never known up here for tackling.

@ploughboy Haha, was just reading up on it, there's some angry people out there towards what he's done to them. I completely missed it at the time.

He's like the former All Whites soccer goalkeeper Michael Utting.

I assume he did the same shit to the poor naive Ashburton folk?
