@NTA said in Aussie Pro Rugby:

A few numpties from Melbourne teeing off at RA for the situation now the rebels are done.

Yeah sure. Maybe have a word to your directors about their profligacy first, eh?

at least, in my experience so far...the number of people blaming the Rebels board/management far outweighs those blaming anyone else....right back to founding board and how little they did to engage with people in melbourne, from day one they were looking to buy success and hoped that would bring the fans. had someone explaining what the Storm did in comparison and it once again boggles the mind that people dont just copy the same approach

@KiwiMurph Surprised he only signed for another year. Must be looking at whether he will make Wallabies maybe? I genuinely think he best of 10s over there, especially now he is able to run game without White.

@Dan54 he might be hedging in that if all goes well he can cash in with a big deal with RA post 2025 or alternatively can look overseas.

I agree he seems the clear frontrunner for Schmidt.

He might have had a one-year extension offer in his current contract - pretty common. Doesn't mean he's necessarily thinking about leaving the following year, just means he's happy with the current terms of his deal and doesn't want to negotiate a new one for another season.

Post the Rebels demise. The NRL picks up a decent scalp. Carter Gordon off to the Titans https://www.titans.com.au/news/2024/06/12/wallabies-flyhalf-to-make-switch-to-titans-in-25/

@Kiwiwomble nah fuck it. Keep bleeding. I'm ready for the whole thing to go tits up.

At least that way I'd get my weekends back without feeling like I've let everyone down 😬

Look at it this way: the money we'll make from the Lions tour will be swallowed up by loans, so not until RWC27 & WRWC29 will we even start to see anything like financial stability.

And that is without even considering the lack of change at lower levels we need to actually bring about results.

Disappointing but at least it removes any ocncerns about selecting him at 10 for the Wallabies despite his various issues.

Doesn't strike me as a 10 that Schmidt would have really fought for. Huge error rate and poor goal kicker.

Tahs assistant coach Jason Gilmore gone to Harlequins in the UK.

So that's one candidate ruled out for the top job next year.

    Love a bit of stability.

    @NTA

Meh - he wanted to take the next step and wasn't an option for the top gig given Tahs need a shake up.

Hopefully Whitaker is next. At least Gilmore has some success in his coaching history. Whitaker has 'I'm a former Tah who was loved by NSW fans'

@Tim said in SF - Blues v Brumbies:

Having a quick look over at Green and Gold etc ... Australia has to leave Super Rugby etc. They really want the Wallabies to be permanently in the 2nd tier.

It's the home of perennial whiners and morons. The average rugby following Ozzie I chat to around the grounds has twice the intellect.

I mean still dumb, but... 😉

The Australian reporting that some of Aus' biggest and best known fund managers are working on a secret plan to raise $100m to help save rugby union.

A group of up to 15 stock pickers and rugby aficionados have been quietly trying to raise the funds in recent weeks, promising to contribute their time and investment acumen for free to help their beloved but embattled sport.

    The target is $100m capital.
