@mariner4life The performances of 1 through 9, and the structures were more important, but he spent most of the game putting in mediocre kicks or delivering passes to players under pressure. It was not a very good performance. Which made him no different to most of the players, but under pressure he wasn't putting us in good field position.

There are no genuine sevens now. Who plays one? Everyone is a hybrid now. What do you want, a "link player" from 2008?
Opensides tackle and hit rucks. Jackling is great, and ball carrying is a bonus. A good game plan connects them with their carriers, and positions them to have the most impact on defence.

Finau didn't do much tonight and isn't a ruck guyWe've abandoned the "fetcher" and we don't hit rucks to turn over. England kept the ball as long as they wanted.

Sure. The stats will come out and he will have made the most tackles and hit the most rucks of the loose forwards.
All the loose forwards would have benefited from solid ball carrying to set a platform, and continued phases to build pressure. It didn't happen, and the team looked like bit part players.

Truth lies somewhere in the middle. There was definitely space created and you can see the opportunities he presents.
But he also overplayed his hand a bit much and a lot of his kicking was average.
It would be nice to see him paired with Ratima.

Turnover stats say what?
@mariner4life Hard to get turnovers without someone hitting defensive rucks to put pressure on, like the last one. We also got a turnover when Papalii tackled Earls off the scrum and brought him down quick.

Newell was excellent off the bench.
Williams and Bell trained the house down during the week too. And did you hear how well Havili was holding those tackle bags. Mo’unga was the pick of the ex players in the crowd too.
