Looking at all the yellow cards in the Germany-Spain game, was it a spiteful game? Undecided if I bother watching a replay.

France can be so much better with the players they have. I thought that Portugal might sneak through once it went to penalties.

At least 2 of the yellows I saw were tactical. Didn't seem a particularly spiteful game.

It was niggly enough. Kroos absolutely should have got a YC for a nasty challenge early on that ended pedri’s game. This gane was much better than the second which was dreary.

Out on penalties to England 😞

Why you choose Akanji to take the first penalty who knows.

Anyone but France please for the title.

Swiss played well but Zuber was crap when he came on and we missed quality up front.

Palmer has to start for England. Did cane touch the ball?

Better than some of their previous efforts that’s for sure. All penalty takers are proven at club level and it showed.

By the barest of margins twice in one day as an Englishman, once in our favour, once not.

England never looked like missing a penalty. I reckon Akanji was stiff from standing still next to Kane all game. Still not really sure what England's plan is to create chances, until Saka's worm burner they had done nothing at all in the second half.

Turks looked good for the win for the first half when they were stopping the ball getting past the midfield. But in the second half, they got deeper and deeper and invited the Dutch on. Was a pretty good game by the end with a great save from Jim Carrey in the Dutch goal.

Spain v Germany was a great game, 2 quality teams going full throttle but both doing their best to stop the opposition stars playing. Shame it wasn't a semi or a final. France and Portugal was 2 teams playing risk-free football and unbelievable you can have Diogo Jota on the bench and not bring him on (he did actually win the penalty that Ronaldo missed in the previous round).

For all the shit Southgate gets, and maybe it's just dumb luck, but fark his results at major championships crap on the coaching geniuses that proceeded him.

@Rancid-Schnitzel Southgate does have much better cattle than most of those previous managers and has also been blessed with some luck in avoiding the top teams.

                            @MiketheSnow Today's George Graham?

It's funny how average players can make a big difference on the international stage. In the Netherlands Turkey match, it was Wout Weghorst. He changed the point of attack in the 2nd half where the turks weren't as comfortable dealing with his height and aerial balls/crosses across the face of goal, and it got the Netherlands home.

It's where someone like Harry Maguire would be handy for England. He'd be a nightmare at set piece for the Dutch if he were there, especially with the way the Dutch conceded their goal at the far post with all their little men defending there.

Was weird watching england being so unthreathening at corners.

I particularly liked the attacking corner that ended up back at Pickford within about 3 passes.

Spain really know how to up the tempo when they need a goal and slow it down and keep the ball when they're ahead. France had a few chances but never really opened them up. That Lamine Yamal looks useful, last game as a 16 year old. Apparently he is youngest player to play a major tournament semi-final (taking Pele's record) and Jesus Navas is the oldest.

Absolutely superb game, England or Netherlands are going to have to find another gear to compete in the final.

Both France & Spain looked twice as quick on the ball.

To be fair, France have been slow until now, so anything is possible.
