12x increase in the suicide rate post “gender affirming” care. The people pushing this need to be put in prison.

@Bones it's like a religious cult for those people. Nothing in that report is remotely surprising, good to see something is finally being done about it though

Could go anywhere, but will stick it here.

Oh the irony.
A play that criticises JK Rowling’s views on gender is struggling to cast women with 90 actresses so far rejecting parts. The stage production, which is set to debut at the Edinburgh Fringe, has already caused outrage over a working title which labelled the gender-critical Harry Potter author a c----.
The production is yet to cast any of the female roles, including that of Rowling herself.

Glorious
The tide is going out

I’ve only been vaguely following a lot of this. Why do the trans community hate her so much ? Can a British based ferner enlighren me ?

So the trans community rally against hate speech but surely a play with that title is in itself hate speech ?
The hypocrisy and lack of self awareness is just ludicrous
It's intersectionality. Hate speech can only go one way; JK is on the top line for most of this, therefore hate speech against her doesn't exist. I am not making this up.

Very hard to read this on a phone. Is it because she has the gall to be successful and self made and not want some bloke in a dress flopping his cock out in a woman’s changing room ?

Trans activists believe anyone can change gender and biological sex is irrelevant. We aren't talking about fully transitioned people here, but blokes who put on a wig and a pair of tights and demand to be treated the same as women.
We ended up with men wearing dresses demanding and getting access to Rape Refuges, rapists being sent to women's prisons, women being hounded out jobs for saying chromosomes are relevant and lesbians being told they were transphobic because they didn't want a bloke wearing a dress sticking a penis in their vagina (google Cotton Ceiling). Death threats were common as were assaults.
Rowling and others like Julie Bindel, Rosie Duffield and Jo Cherry called out this bullshit. That took some balls (deliberate choice of words).

I can have great fun with this: Immigrant, victim of colonial oppression, racism survivor (was racially abused once in Scotland), some maori and Polish in me and have been detained by racist UK immigration...

@Victor-Meldrew hey count yourself lucky you're not an Arab with a Jewish surname.

its because about 4 years ago she tweeted something along the lines of - i will support your right to dress how you like, i'll march alongside you to fight for equal rights and against discrimination, but don't you can't make me believe that a man can become a woman or that said person should be allowed in women only spaces.
massively controversial.
Since then, she's become more outspoken in favour of women's rights and spaces and has called out politicians etc who have equivocated or bought into the mantra that 'trans women are women'.
More power to her and the other prominent feminists who've stood up against this bullying group of TRAs.
As for the play mentioned above, its an indication that the tide is turning as the lovie elite who would previously have worn a rainbow flag and preached the TWAW mantra without thought are now worried that their opinions might actually be critically scrutinised.
