I think the problem with any movement like this, and especially with hate crime legislation, is that it can't help but imply that untargeted violence is less bad than targeted violence. It creates a hierarchy of the worth of victims that is as insidious and corrupting as racism, with only the victims changing.

I wonder if the well-meaning people who start these movements off ever stop to wonder that if they invite justice to be anything but blind they may regret a different flavours of inequality that result. -

Mate get on the facebook bandwagon ( 9 years too late ). In my experience of adding ferners ( I think I have about 12 or 13 which is rather sad ) we're all just as uncool on there as we are on here, that's a good thing cos it means no one here is talking themselves up on an "anonymous" forum.
-

Back in 2009 some local guys on a fishing forum tried to set up s competition and it was only going to be through Facebook , I didn't want to join then either but they said it was cool to use my username on the forum and then I accepted the mrs as a friend which led to her friends and family sending friend requests which she insisted I accepted even though I didn't want to. Then the guys organising the comp fell out and it never happened and I was stuck with the thing because she said if I deleted it everyone would think we broke up so I " forgot" the password and never went back. Somewhere in cyberspace there a Facebook page with five posts and two likes and I have actually forgotten the password now.

I spend to much time on the net as it is without adding another reason to go on it. Do any ferners actually catch up for a beer occasionally? -

Campbell Burne's rugby coverage at the Herald is a breath of fresh air.
Nice to see some enthusiastic reporting of grass roots and NPC rugby in the Auckland region.

Campbell Burnes has spent 12 years in journalism, after deciding that his days as a rugby professional were numbered. Following a career that included 18 first-class games for Manu Samoa and Thames Valley and two seasons in France, he spent two and a half years as the Western Leader sports editor before eight years as news and features editor of Rugby News. He left that position in late 2012 and is now a freelance writer, and regularly contributes for Oceania Media.

knew someone would do it...seems most seem to be avoiding posting about the 'big scandal' in NZ media right now!

@taniwharugby you mean Colin Craig?

Anything is better than stories about Hilary Barry, either of the Ridges or anyone from the 2016 Bachelor.
I've got nothing against Barry, it's the media who seem to jizz repeatedly every time she blinks. But the Bachelor fuckfaces refuse to accept they've had their 15 mins and go away, and I can't stand that Sally and Jaime Ridge get airtime for doing literally nothing of value.

Yep, get your nuts stuck and go to the media, awesome idea.
