Nah just like a lot of other players, plays rugby in Dunedin, Southland has an academy in Dunedin for Southland players and he plays provincial down there. He's in their development squad and having a run this week

@Chris-B No Will Jordan? Thought all the chat was he’s on track to get minutes asap…… are we going to have him play 1, maybe even half NPC pre season game before AB’s selection? Yikes

Interesting that this game is being played in Welly. Weird that they haven't made it more of an event with the game between Welly and Taranaki also taking place in Wellington. Could have done a pre season double header.

@Landers92 I thought he was supposed to be ready, as well.
Hopefully, he might play a few proper NPC games before he plays for the ABs even if he's named in the Rugby Championship squad.

@NateHill74 is there any where else in NZ where a PU runs an academy in another province and uses their club system as a feeder to their npc team?. Seems ridiculous that Otago allows that
@yeahyeah Not that I know of, just because of being in Dunedin and seeing it all and talking to people is how I know about that. Sucks for Otago, have all these great players playing club here then we find out they just go down and play for Southland. Josh Augustine a big one this season who is a tidy winger which we may need this year or next

I had thought I had seen Leroy Carter was meant to be with BOP again this year but he is not in the squad announcement. Wonder what he'll end up doing doing once he returns from the Olympics considering there has been some fern rumours about him being Chiefs 2025.

I have no issue with it. Apart from Augustine, only the out and out Southland lads would be a shot at making Otago. I'd see a time in the future when the two premier club comps could be combined. Players nominate at the start of the year who they'd like to play for.
