At least she gets a heli ride
That's what I said, just being drama queen so she gets ride. Unfortunately chopper couldn't land because of low cloud, they have got her a bit lower, chopper had to go away and refuel, so still waiting. I guessing now light maybe a problem.
Well anyway the story still goes on , because the helicopter couldn't pick up mrs becasus of low cloud, she had to walk/limp/ slide for 3 hours down the mountain to where the police had been able to drive up to, and cop drove her back to friends car etc. Anyway decided maybe it was sprained ankle etc. Took her to hospital yesterday as leg was swelling more, and after xrays etc she has ankle broken in 2 bloody places. So now up at New Plymouth hospital waiting for swelling to go down enough so they can pin ankle etc. And seems is a bit of a star up there as well as Hawera hospital, noone can believe she actually walked down mountain on the broken leg, She a fairly tough old bird and has a pretty high pain threshold etc.
Now we have to cross fingers etc as we meant to be doing our trip to Europe/UK in 6 1/2 weeks! And I got to keep cooking the meals by the look! -
@Dan54 Thanks for a succession of such endearing snippets. Love shines brightly through your description of your drama queen old bird
It'll be tough and go whether the ankle will mend in time but even if it has your mrs won't have full mobility for months so get used to cooking and cleaning and (hopefully) carrying all your luggage round Europe. Hope you are avoiding stairs

@dogmeat Mate, I just got back from seeing her at hospital, and I am somewhat upset. Checking on after the op etc and when she come home. They are very good saying the phisio dept will come around to house and see if she needs anything while recovering. That is all very well, but they also asked her if she had someone to do the cooking and housework?
She said yes, and I asked who the hell it was, and would this person cook etc for me?? -

She looks as though she is struggling to reconcile the corporate smiling requirement with the embarrassment factor of being photographed in her uniform.
I can understand that.

Speaking of being productive in the Aussie Politics thread: Imagine taking the time to write me an email asking me to invite another person (in the same organisation as you) to a meeting rather than just forwarding the invite onto them.

RFU in their infinite wisdom have decided that regardless of the level, absolutely every player has to be centrally registered online.
So I go to do it and am confronted with this absolute caaaant in the DOB field. What's that, over 500 clicks/taps just to get back to 78? Get fucked you raging morons.

@Snowy Don't get the attraction of Omaha TBH Unless it's the Hamilton thing of "it ain't that great - but it's close to plenty of places that are".
The 21st century Pauanui...
My mother used to call both of those places "Remuera by the sea" and hated them both, in spite of living quite close to Remuera and Omaha over the years.
Omaha used to be great before the knobs moved in. They don't even shop locally and provide nothing to the community. The place has tumbleweeds in winter, just deserted. I loved the place when I was in my teens, used to drive up, sleep on the beach, surf, fish all day. Had the place to ourselves. Sad to go there now, apparently that is "progress".
Omaha now is mainly just another suburban housing development. The area is deeply unpleasant in the popular months.
Try driving to Warkworth on a Saturday! Mind you I did like the Black Dog when it first opened.
