You’d think the Phoenix open might bring something like this into play.

Interesting selection after watching him miss out on the last team on the Netflix series. He genuinely loves the RC, hopefully he won't play favourites like Dustin Johnson did

I think it's pretty dumb to pick a captain who will spend the next 18 months trying to qualify himself, rather than focus on others. Same thing happened with ZJ and look how that turned out.

That said given the home advantage you could pick Stevie Wonder as captain and they'd still win by five points.

Scheffler sooooo impressive winning the gold at olympics this morning. Some hot scoring by a lot of the top players but this guy just keeps on going one better.

And Tommy Fleetwood in second. Some good news for his hometown of Southport after a most horrific week.

Incredible final round from Scottie. What a year it's been for him so far. He'll probably go out and win the Tour Championship now.

That finish did a lot for Olympic golf. Fair to say it's been a bit anticlimactic so far but that was something special. One of the best leaderboards of the year.

Home crowd favorite Victor Perez came oh so close to a podium finish. He had 4 birdies and an eagle on the back 9 and shot a 63 with an 8 under round.

Pretty frightening for the player in question but it does rise an interesting point.

Is he allowed a free placement of his ball to avoid the gouges left in the green between the position of the ball and the hole that weren't there when he commenced his putting routine? Would be shattering if he was sitting on 44 stableford points and putting for an eagle and then had this to circumnavigate!

Heading up to my course this afternoon to watch an Asian Tour event. Biggest names were supposed to be Ian Poulter and Graeme McDowell, but both withdrew! Varner III now the biggest draw.

Looking forward to seeing how the course is supposed to be played, as opposed to the way I hack my way around it.

The business end of the PGA Tour starts later this week with the FedEx St. Jude Championship in Memphis, Tennesse.
With the end of the regular season the players who finished in the Top 10 of the FedExCup Standings got some nice bonuses, highlighting season long performance. Scottie Scheffler claimed the No.1 spot of course and earned a cool $8 million. Xander finished in second earning $6 million and Rory finished in 3rd place earning $4.8 million. Shane Lowry rounded out the Top 10 and got $2 million.

Only the Top 70 in the FedExCup Standings qualify to play in this week's tournament and then it gets cut again to the Top 50 for the BMW Championship next week, then the Top 30 in the standings progress to the Tour Championship at East Lake so plenty to play for at the St. Jude Championship this week for alot of the players who are outside the Top 50 currently in points.
