We are trailing the Argies in the race though. We need to beat them by 3 places to get silver. Early days but that will be a struggle from here.

Sounds too much in these conditions

Don't speak too soon. We are now ahead of the Argies at the next mark.

Wow that was tight. NZ get around, leave barely enough room for Sweden to get through in front of Argentina. Still too far a bridge to cross I think 😉

In the end, it was a shame that the GBR team didn't hear the call and go back. That would have given us a chance to chase earlier

I'm not sure if the BBC coverage I'm watching is live but I'm seeing a good battle between NZ and Argentina for Silver at the moment, albeit in very light winds.

@canefan that’s sailing though. It’s not up to the chase boats to tell them they are over. I’ve done plenty of racing in my time in Lasers and if the start gun goes twice it’s the sailors responsibility to go back if they think they are over or risk it and carry on. GBR risked it and lost out. They would have known it was close so that will cost them a medal.

We need to beat them by 3 boats to get silver though. Looks unlikely unless some boats crap out.

Won’t happen from here. Bronze for NZ.

Apparently there's more heart-break at the Olympics than joy.

Awesome job, out of all the fleets that was probably one event we weren’t favoured to medal in so awesome.

I noticed her in the 100 m hurdles. Her teammate Chari Hawkins was in the same heat.

It's early, and much of the field gets to play after her. But Lids Ko is into 3rd... 🤫

Lydia Ko is going great guns. just got another birdie to take her to 5 under for the day and into third equal.

Canadian canoeing is stoopid. Canada should be ashamed.

Unlike butterfly or breaststroke, it just looks stupid. So. It's in there with race walking, for me.
