US Athletics has announced that Noah Lyles has Covid.

He ran 19.70 and secured the bronze medal with Covid. He must be a doubt for the relays.

Still on second round. A good India Vs Pakistan battle ahead.

Some of the Aussie swimmers competed with COVID, so if he can go he could still race

Always good to wake up to 2 more gold medals!! The kerin win was gusty, get to the front on the last lap and back yourself to stay in front all the way was a brave call but a very good one. K4 was excellent, the girls hung in there to stay close enough to the Germans and then timed their run perfectly at the end to pull ahead.

Dame Carrington with 6 gold medals (and with the potential of more to come) - what a national treasure she is!!

At the end of the third quarter in the men's basketball semi final, it's Serbia 76, USA 63.

Can America's illustrious lineup pull this around in the fourth quarter?

Tebogo looked great - Lyles might have been struggling but Tebogo looked like he had more to give. Also he gave a really lengthy interview to Sky NZ trackside which most champions wouldn't do! He's a sub 45 400m and sub 10 100m man - can't be many of them. I think he knew that if he was ahead coming into the bend he had the strength from the longer distance to see them off.

Serbia carving up USA then decide ‘you know what, let’s stop giving it to Joker and just start lobbing up wild 3s’. Like the other four guys all thought they were the best player but just needed the space to show it. If I were a Serb I’d be rioting in the street

Dame Lisa Carrington is a fucking phenom and NZs greatest athlete. She has more than a decade on most of the other people in that K4 race and still, in a "team" event, looked like the dominant athlete.

Someone build a fucking statue. you'll need a lot of bronze to do those shoulders and guns justice.

Not sure if it's been mentioned here, but how about the record set by the Cuban heavyweight wrestler Mijain Lopez.

First ever person to win Gold at the same individual event at FIVE straight Olympics. He won in Beijing, London, Rio, Tokyo and Paris.

Never been done at either Summer or Winter Olympics. That is a serious record to have.

5 golds at 5 consecutive Olympics puts these peeps in the convo for the Goatiest of Goats.

Old mate Lopez, Steve Redgrave and now Carrington. Anyone else? (Wikipedia says Redgrave is, should be updated to was (I've seen memes about that), the only man to achieve this in an endurance sport.

It's the longevity of greatness that to my mind makes it a greater achievement than Phelps who had who won his golds across 4 games (although he did attend 5).

Anyone done more than at least 1 gold in 6 successive Olympics? Shooting maybe?
