I was going to say that. But I thought my maths had to be wrong. Because sub 3.3 minute Ks is ridiculous

        No argument there.

I struggle to run sub 3.3 minute 100 metres. (Might be exaggerating a tad)

The Olympics were a slow burner for me. Wasn't excited leading up, didn't watch the opening ceremony. But as always, when the games started I was drawn in. So many amazing stories, so many amazing performances, triumph, the agony of defeat, grace in defeat. The Olympics really are the ultimate reality show. I can't wait for 2028

                    Squash is for 80s stockbrokers

Losing wrestling and boxing is disgraceful. The nation directly behind us on the medal table will be furious.

Just had a drone shot of the final women's marathon contestant from Bhutan still a few kms back. Echos of The Distance by Cake, with the crowd on that part of the circuit having gone home.

The fans get up and they get out of town
The arena is empty except for one man
Still driving and striving as fast as he can

Totally agree. Boxing and wrestling are among the most basic of sports. Just you vs your competitor, no tech or tricks

I think the problem with boxing is that it is not the best athletes in the sport competing. The boxers at the Olympics are so far below the best that it is not all that interesting.

They could change that with eliminating the amateur status. Get the absolute top pros boxing it out for a gold medal and it would be worth keeping.

Kiwi (Wollaston) in the first event of the Omnium got 5th I think. Respectable start.

The way the points are allocated is linear, so being consistent might be enough to get a medal.

The kiwi girl gets 5th in the first race of the omnium, after having to ride out the front a little sooner than she probably wanted

This was a very cool story. Watch the video of the Norwegian weightlifter who was the last to realise she had just won Gold. Great telly

Elesse Andrews takes the first sprint race quite easily. Best of 3. That was from her starting in front too so that is a good win.
