@Nepia The list I posted was from the Warriors website (after a google search). I've no idea what other articles have been published as I don't follow RL that closely anymore. I agree it's a promotion piece.
The player I mentioned who signed for the Titans (Caelys-Paul Putoko) did miss some later Super 8 games last year to play RL although I have no idea who he played for on those weekends. He was still selected for the NZ Schools team though (the starting 12).
That list was posted in the Daily Telegraph too, there seems to be two journos pushing it, a guy I can't remember and a lady named Fatima Kdouh. Kind of embarrassing for Richard Becht to be pushing it as a) a Kiwi and b.) someone who would know that Warriors junior teams have always had kids from rugby schools.
TBH, the hyping of league and attacking of rugby by the media is actually making me turn off the sport a bit (the Warriors returning to their old form might also be playing a part too).
@Nepia
I know De La Salle and St Paul’s very well. Many of those 1st 15 rugby players in those teams are league boys who play rugby at college. They’ve grown up playing club rugby league and then play union at College on Saturdays and league is played on Wednesdays. The list doesn’t tell the whole story. It goes both ways, obviously league is poaching more but it also goes the other way. -

Kelston too big, too strong winning 36-13

The Top 4 semis are this afternoon. First up is Hamilton BHS v Feilding HS, followed by Kelston BHS against Nelson College. Nelson College is the only unbeaten school of the four so are probably the overall favourites.
Livestreams on Whakaata Māori for those that are interested.

Hamilton BHS - 23 - 19 Feilding HS
Kelston BHS 18 - 26 Nelson CollegeBoth SFs were close. FAHS lost the ball over the line late which would have given them a lead with the score at 20-19. HBHS started well into a strong wind by scoring 3 early tries but FAHS dominated up front after that. It didn't help that HBHS lost three forwards before HT. Too many handling errors in the 2nd half by the forwards so the backs had few chances. Nelson looked slick and will be the favourites in the final.

3rd/4th
Feidling HS 35 - 32 Kelston BHSFinal
Hamilton BHS 27 - 17 Nelson CollegeI'll have to watch a replay but it sounds like the HBHS midfield had big games. They are the two players who I think have the best chance of making the NZS squad. Nelson's first loss of the year.

Dane Johnston, the Feilding High School TH prop, and Bradley Tocker, Palmerston North Boys’ High School's NZ Schools lock-flanker have been signed by Taranaki in conjunction with the Chiefs. Johnston wasn't wanted by the Hurricanes.
