Compared to the South African matches I feel a bit empty about this game.
I find that sad and hope it will change.

      I think it's a one score game.

Can easily see us getting turned over.

Lots of depressing "I don't care about this game much, things have changed, feel a bit sad" sentiment in here.

          Well, fuck that I say.

In the hopes of perking some of you up, here is the Voodoo runsheet for the day - and I for one and in a fucking good mood about it.

7am - woke up to shining sun and a coffee ready for me thanks to my lovely wife.
7:30am - made bacon and eggs rolls. Checked weather forecast for Homebush, will be c. 25 degree for kick-off - get the fuck in!
8am - showered, dressed, about to take the lad to the cricket nets to see if I can get those feet moving - at the moment they're grounded like he has lead in his shoes - like his old man to be fair. Might work on that bowling action a bit too. Will take the dog to chase his ball around and generally get in our way.
10am - collect girl from rowing, buy boy new cricket bat, buy lunch from somewhere - no doubt a cheeky stop at Dan Murphys is in order
          12:30pm - nap time
1:30pm leave for the ferry / train to Homebush. Beers on the ferry, no doubt some good banter on the train. I will be wearing my AB's shirt like a good 47yr old bloke does. Punt horses as much as I can get away with.
3pm arrive to ground, more beers, eat overpriced pie and chips.
3:45pm kick off following horrendous anthems
4:45pm AB's up 20 at HT, more beers and chips
6pm back on the train after 40 point win, Aussies looking demoralised at the realisation of another year gone with no Bled, and the prospect that they still have to go to NZ next week. The silence is so beautiful that no further comment is required from me
7pm back on the ferry for more beers.
7:45pm home on the couch, red wine opened, takeaway ordered and watching Manly touch up the Roosters
10pm bed or another bottle opened - haven't decided yet. Got to leave some room for spontaneity.

Sounds like a pretty good day to me.

Thinly veiled "im upper middle class and proud" post.

That does sound like a pretty good day. As another fellow 47-year old - I've got a rather serious problem... the game's at bloody 10:45 pm here. I don't see how I can possibly avoid being smashed well before kick-off.
My plan is probably going to look something like:

                  • knock off work about... now
                  • go to a local brewery, drink beers, watch the Mariners - trying to stick to ~5% pilsners
                  • get a growler or two filled with delicious beer to take home - I should stick to the pilsners, but I'll end up going with 6-7% IPAs
                  • try to avoid drinking TOO much more before the game... but will fail. A nap would be a good option, but... risky.
                  • watch the game, with even more drunken TSF posting than usual
                  • wake up tomorrow - check on the score, maybe watch some highlights to remind myself of what happened

Shit - and I just realised I didn't actually finish off the 2-litre growler I was drinking last night - so I've got one glass of beer from that to clean up before I can even head off to brewery. Perfect for a shower-beer, I guess.

And... a quandary... I am typically very superstitious about what I drink before/during a game... would never drink an Aussie wine, for example.
One of my local breweries - has a beer named "Worldwide Wallabies". Because... it's brewed with all NZ hops. F'n idiots. But... do I drink it, or avoid it?

Consensus is that name is more important than ingredients? Acknowledged. Will avoid.
Luckily the brewery across the road - does a Pilsner with some Nelson Sauvin in it. And not named "Green-and-Gold" or anything silly.
It's actually fucking hard to find any beers with NZ hops here. Which means everything tastes samey-samey.
But I think I've got a bottle of Easthope Sav in the fridge - that might come into play if the game is tight.

                                      I expect 30 points

Pass/fail mark is about 20 points

Have just been told the B.Barrett is ruled out with an illness and that Dmac hasn’t trained the last 2 days.

Again, will cover my ass and own it if this isn’t accurate but it usually is.

If that info is correct and both of those 2 are ruled out that is something to worry about…
