How do you create more diehard fans? Hate to compare to the NRL nut a lot of the fans in that comp are fucking nutcases. Personally I love Super Rugby and I love my team and I'd call myself a fucking nutcase fan and proudly so.

What stopped SR from forming a sense of tribalism?

Old data but I suspect it is similar to the current situation (or is worse now), showing that 70% of Super rugby viewers were "born before 1976 and are at least 40 years old." The report states "this drop off in viewership amongst younger generations illustrates the challenges facing traditional sports in a world of increasingly diverse entertainment options."

So, simply put, not enough kids like us have been really engaged, and of the older generation, they are still in love with the NPC (although the percentage of people watching that competition was roughly the same as those watching league).

Edit: That doesn't really answer your question, but the issue thus far has been not creating those fans. I think that there is an issue of people growing into watching rugby, but there is also the issue of people's allegiances being mixed up by the different teams and formats.

Frans ‘pushing to go south’ to save Cheetahs

Director of rugby Frans Steyn said the Cheetahs, having been dumped out of the 2024 Currie Cup, are desperately searching for a competition to join to remain competitive.

Isn't the post about Leicester better in another thread?
Whitelock, Mounga and Fainga'anuku -is Razor chasing any non-Crusaders overseas players?

Nah, he's just worried about how bad his true love the Crusaders have become, so he's trying to get them to the top again.

@nostrildamus nobody is chasing whitelock are they, he has retired? Frizzell has been mentioned previously.
Fihaki is a bizarre selection so there's really no need to make stuff up re bias.

I expect much of the banter on here is just that. But surely you find some of the selections puzzling? I hope in 12 months things have become clearer, for the better

The article said they were chasing Sam but he decided to retire. Forgot about Frizell but wasn't he more a Ryan obsession? I'm not making up stuff just going off a media article.

Frizell was also linked to the Crusaders if he came back too.

    Interesting.

Must be a deliberate plan to repeat the final in Round 1 given it happened this year too.

Love this, probably the first time in 5 years the Canes haven't kicked their season off overseas.

So the Blues get a game at Eden Park straight away. This year the first one was round 5, the year before it was round 4

Generally to do with limited overs cricket, but as the BCs are away in Pakistan there is no issue this year.

Highlanders must be playing the Tahs 2x. Would seem bizarre that we would play them away three years in a row.
