Runaway Train
Yes, the 1985 film. Title is excellent because it tells you most of what you need to know. If you were asleep during the 80s or not yet a glint in your old man's eyes, it's a couple of convicts escaping a prison in Alaska. Limited cinematography and the supporting cast are hamming it up/ playing caricatures.
May not sound enthralling, but the performances of Jon Voight and Eric Roberts are superb. Both of them absolutely nail the portrayal of their respective characters.

Yeah, I'd never seen this. Pretty good.
Like you say - Voight and Roberts are fucking good, everybody else caricatures.
I kinda especially enjoy the fact that while I'm sure most of the advertising would have been about "Runaways... on a Train!" - the bulk of the movie is actually about just... a Runaway Train.
I did think some of the "how the fuck did they survive that?" shit was over-the-top, but then compared it to modern movies, and thought... "same shit, different flavour".
Titwatch of approximately zero - except the shots of pretty tame centrefolds.
Other notes:- Starting credits - based on a screenplay by Akira Kurosawa? WTF? Interest raised.
- End credits: "..., Fat Con, Short Con, Tall Con, Old Con, Cat Con, Queen Con, ..."

The Mule
Nice little dramatic movie. Eastwood plays a different character to standard Eastwood.
Really enjoyed it
4 Viagras out of 5 does that stuff still work at 90?
Not really, just a bit less grumpy.
Whilst he is the coolest man to ever walk the earth I don’t think anyone will ever be amazed by his acting range.
Solid enough film but Gran Torino was his last great performance in my opinion.

For Eastwood, thats a completely different character of late.
I think he plays it well. Actually felt like he was the character, as opposed to Clint Eastwood.

Yeah he obviously loves what he does. At 94 ( or late 80s when that flick came out ) you kinda know he has enough cash in the bank.
Still working at his age is damn impressive, it is slightly upsetting seeing how frail he is though, he was a lean, mean fighting machine at his peak !

TBH, I found it to be pretty average (actually wound up doing a second watch as friends wanted to watch it), not helped by the laughable threesomes. 90+ Clint could have them, the old fulla he's supposed to be - not so much.

Good point. That was cringy as fuck. Maybe he was making up for all the women he didn’t nail as the Man with no name and Dirty Harry ?

Not a huge fan of Predator 2 but this is great:

Iron Claw.
Really enjoyed it despite it being absolutely tragic. Have to give credit to Zac Efron. He's really worked hard to get out of that teen heartthrob type cast.

Wolfs on Apple+
The George Clooney and Brad Pitt collaboration. What a romp, just bloody good entertainment watching two actors who clearly love what they do, do what they do best. Wife and I really enjoyed it on Sunday evening enjoying a bottle of wine.
Two "cleaners" called into the same job and things just go from there.
Tit watch zero

A Dark Song.
I love British occult and folk horror. Not really sure how to rate this one.
I enjoyed it, but it did have some dull periods. The ending was a bit video game, but at least it wasn't a cop-out.
Dark, windy & pissing down with rain in Cornwall so just the atmos for a bit of gothic so gave this a try.
A bit disjointed but a gnat's todger from being really great and an enjoyable watch. Agree on the ending which seemed tacked-on.

@Victor-Meldrew Definitely could have been better with a bit more imagination or something. Very heavy handed at the end.

Hmm, I predict that Pitt will be quite annoying (not to mention mediocre) in his role. He's no Lee Marvin.
Clicked on the start of this thread by accident, fair to say no post has aged as poorly as this, Brad was AWESOME !
