I'm hope they are just testing Sotutu to see how he responds to not getting picked. If the rumours are true and they didn't like his attitude previously, surely they are impressed with his response this NPC.
That would still be a dick move. Who else gets "tested"? Only the guys that could actually improve the team?
It all depends on how bad his attitude allegedly was I suppose (again, assuming the rumour is true). He wouldn't be the first person to miss out on a sports team, or a promotion at work, because of personality.
Of course, it's pure speculation on my part based on nothing at all.

Kaivelata is having an impressive NPC. He is a strong runner and he can scrum. He should get a SR contract in 2025.

I’d be content for Clayton to have a look at him. A loosie unit of Lakai[EDIT]/Suafoa/Hoss could do damage.
