I'm off to see them tonight. Set list for each Australian concert so far has been the same:
Mate went in Auckland. Said it was outstanding.
Having seen lots of recent Youtube footage it would appear they still have it and then some.

Yeah, it was good. With so many SIT songs it is the Adrian Smith show. I already knew what the setlist would be, but it was great to hear some classic songs live for the first time. Bruce still sounds really good for his age and after the cancer scare.

Loved it. The energy from guys at the wrong end of their 60s was immense.

I guess that this is supposed to be the new Oz rock band, but it's all been done so many times before. They're okay, and they've been around for a while, but I'll forget it immediately. Nothing new.
Underwhelming

@MiketheSnow that’s why Knofpler is one of the kings.
Never overplays.

It may sound completely contradictory but I love Knopflers playing despite being completely sick of Dire Straits if that makes sense.

Makes perfect sense to me. I'm at best a 2/10 Guitarist but I've learned enough to understand why people like Knopfler are universally lauded whilst other guitarists who would appear to be "better", are not.
The odd thing is that I'll never be able to play like Hammett, Van Halen, Wylde etc, yet I can cover a lot of Floyd / Knopfler songs but I still know that the latter are better musically.
2 posts in a row where I'm not really making sense. Might be time to hit the politics forum ...

Way more than 2 fella
I agree 100%. Some guitarists/bassists have that intangible “touch”. Dave Gilmour ( as you allude to ) is of that ilk too.
Then there’s Jeff Beck who was levels above all except Hendrix and only a notch above Ritchie Blackmore.

@MN5 a good way of looking at it, with further thought, is that if I play AC/DC, Bon Jovi and what I can of even Metallica (fuck all) is that if I miss a note it doesn’t really matter.
If you miss a note on Gilmour / Knopfler stuff it’s completely broken.
Same applies, perhaps even more so, when i get the timing wrong.

Good point.
I love Zep more than any band, but I think Jeff Beck was a superior guitarist to Jimmy Page.
Apparently JP improvised heaps on stage but JB never did, he always played it exactly as he wanted.
Possibly a similar analogy but then again Beck was absolutely unique whereas loads have imitated Page to some extent.
I’d rate Joe Walsh in a similar vein to Knopfler/ Gilmour. Some beautiful licks and instantly recognisable sound.
