All Good if you want to go bush by yourself but involving the kids and keeping them away from their Mum is a different story. Some support for him in facebook comments but at the end of the day he is due in court and a suspect for some burglary's.
A bit like Hunt for the Wilderpeople but could potentially be like that Aussie family that shot the cops.

I know a little bit about this case as my parents are local-ish (TA / Oto).
There was a bit of chat in the community about the family dynamics, and this seems to be linked with some of the ambivalence towards pursuit of the father.

I got a sense that the locals must feel he's justified in his actions. Otherwise he'd be caught already
