    https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/talking-performance-episode-37-special-guest-ian-foster/id1511434243?i=1000510205440

All Blacks head coach Ian Foster recently appeared on the ‘Talking Performance’ podcast co-hosted by former Chiefs sports psychologist David Galbraith. During an interesting chat about his background and approach to coaching, he also reinforced the national team’s desire to rely less on physicality than their competitors:

“With the All Blacks, we’ve decided — we’re a powerful team, but we’re also a really skilful team, so we want to play a fast, skilful game; we’ve probably gone backwards a little bit in the size component…we actually haven’t got the biggest team in the world — even in our loose forwards, we often play Sam Cane and Ardie Savea together, rather than have a number 8 who’s 117 [or] 118kg like a lot of teams.”

(In another episode worth listening to, Foster’s Wallabies counterpart Dave Rennie was on the same show a week earlier.)

It was always clear that his work-rate got him there, and that he wasn't quite world class. Nevertheless, you can't not like this bloke, especially after hearing him talk about his rugby story:

I actually think Parsons and Hall with Ross Karl are pretty good value. Certainly go into more depth than the Breakdown.

Anyone on here listen to @Gibbit on the Breakdown pod? Some fucking sound ideas such as getting RTS into the AB squad, Papalii putting pressure on Cane, a need to shake up the props, and it's time to start Taukei'aho.

Was there a little shout out to @NTA or is there another Nick the Aussie?

@Tim Listened to it and they are still advocating experience at hooker over talent. Bryan Hall the better of the 2.

Parsons has turned into a full on cheerleader in recent weeks. Very much viewing everything through rose-tinted glasses, and banging on about how he "knows these players can win the collisions because they've done it before". When was the last time they did that against a quality pack, Lions test one in 2017?
