@NTA Your winger should have had the discipline to leave Savea alone. Sometimes you get away with shit, other times not, that's rugby. The Coles one could have easily seen Foley in the bin and a penalty try awarded. BTW who signalled for the TMO on the aussie non-try? Was correct protocol followed?

I think it was the TMO interjecting.

As I (and others) said elsewhere: this situation gets focus because it is the difference of 5 points. If it happened somewhere else on the field, it wouldn't have gone to the TMO.

If Speight got tackled, and a ruck formed, then it had no scope to go to the TMO because it was more than one phase back.

To further compound how the Laws are funny here: if Foley runs back and tries a quick droppy, Nigel and the TMO don't get a say in anything. Happened later on where Sio fell over chasing back, and a try was scored. Cruden took that kick quick as fuck to eliminate any opportunity for a review. Smart play.

Back to the actual game, we came out quick and dazzled with the first couple of tries. But we made lots of little mistakes and I felt like we didn't play direct enough, I don't remember many runs from Retallick or Whitelock. The aussies defended well, right up on the edge of the line and by trying to outflank them without setting the platform up front we played into their hands. Oz enjoyed long periods of possession, albeit for little gain, but they looked very good at times. They let us off the hook with mistakes too and that can't be afforded when you play us. In the end we had a few moments of brilliance that broke open the game, and the final 15 minutes showed how dangerous we are in any situation. It was a tough test and both teams should be able to take positives from it

LOL just watching Hansen's press conference - he basically knocked every question on the head in the opening salvo 😆

It was fairly obvious that Aust were determined to use the same attacking template that Arg and SA used with some success in Hamilton and Durban. But like in those tests, the opposition teams were not able to sustain that pressure for long enough as the AB bench prevailed in the 2nd half.

I will be interested to see how Ireland approaches the game in Chicago as the ABs have looked susceptible to direct running closer to the ruck.

Some players had their worst games of the year tonight but the ABs still found a way to win. IMO this type of ugly win, and comfortable win in the end, was more satisfying than a one-sided win because it was a "test" of their character.

                  Watching the AB press conference.

Fuck some of the Kiwi journos are trying to know make a story out of nothing. Maybe because Shag took the first three questions off them? 🙂

This sort of stuff (and it is not an isolated case) makes me have less sympathy for Cheika's butt hurt routine. To coin what Moore said, the jersey was there, the crest was there. In addition they portrayed our greatest ever AB in a highly disrespectful light. I don't recall the ABs commenting and I don't recall a lot of indignation on the boards here. As Shag said, he just has to lighten the fuck up

I'm not sure if Cheika's whiny little bitch routine is a tactic to take focus off his team losing again, or because he really is like that

Wow just watched the Cheika presser.

The Wallabies are now like this brother in law that you used to enjoy inviting over and having a few beers and duking it out over the issues.

Now that brother in law has raised two kids who have no respect for anyone, and he objects to you telling his son off for shitting in the kitchen sink. It's not your place apparently - he will deal with it, and the sinks luminescence played a major factor.

What a terrible loser, of someone who has had plenty of practice.

@Stockcar86 I think that is a pretty poor piece from NZH, unnecessary. Just watched the presser, Cheika was out of line during the question about his opinion about the 18, he insinuated that the ABs were the ones disrespecting the Wobs via the paper. As far as being disrespected by the media I would agree but it is no different from the treatment we get in Oz. Didn't the media promote NZ-Oz games a year or few ago by wheeling out the old sheep shagger joke?

Yep , Matt Burke with his arm around a sheep telling it he'd keep it safe from the kiwis . MMM had a papier-mâché sheep on a trailer outside the abs hotel room with a loudspeaker in it blasting out kiwi jokes until the cops told them to bugger off. On second thoughts Cheika can get fucked , he is a clown .

Poor old Cheika - he's got a bit emotional. It's getting up there with Geoff Toovey and Eddie Jones for Japan. Probably should have had a slug of scotch before going into that press conference.

It's a tough business being an international footy coach. I wouldn't want to have been interviewed after some losses I've just watched on telly - let alone if I'd spent months coaching the team that lost.

He's going to rue that interview though - there's going to be creepy clowns popping up all over the show for him now. Here's a bit of Kipling for you Michael...

If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
                                          And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools....
