As a one-eyed Kiwi, I do not agree with the Breakthrough Player of the Year Award. Should have been Anton Lienert-Brown. Of course.

@Stargazer dunno about ALB, as good as he has been for the ABs he didn't really stand out as much for the Chiefs, I think I'd of gone for Ardie before ALB, but haven't seen enough of Itoje to compare anyway.

I'd of likely gone with Coles over BB too.

Also, that 'Special Merit Award' needs a name change!

@taniwharugby Ardie was good for the Canes but has missed a lot of the SR season for the Canes due to his stint with the NZ7s team. His 7s performance was average. Also didn't shine for the ABs like ALB. ALB over Ardie every day of the week to me. I find a great performance for the ABs more important than a great performance for the Canes.

Itoje has been an absolute beast this year. Backed up 6Ns form with a fantastic Aussie series. Well deserved IMO.

Who the hell are those refs?

And what happened to Fiji sevens team & ginger God Ben Ryan? I thought they were supposed to sweep everything?

This is good for BB's confidence ahead of the test vs Ireland.

Just hit up you tube for the try of the year. Its a good team try but its against Italy. I was hoping for something a bit more spectacular I guess.

Wow. Totally ignored the two teams with an Olympic Gold medal and World Series.

Of the nominations it was the best one but I probably would have selected some other finalists
They seem to flavour length of field tries with no more than two phases

The news reports kept saying it was Jamie Heaslip' try against France, so I thought they were talking about this one -

@Pot-Hale That's a fine try but just a tad old for the 2016 TOTY.

I thought this years one was excellent and I've seen much better than the TJP one. The selection criteria must include the length of play needed to fit in a short video.
