The rules say you can't interfere with the halfback, doesn't say he has to have protection for that rule to apply.
You are right tho, he hasn't been looked after.

I thought quick taps had to be taken from the mark. But anyway, good opportunistic play from the French 9.

Agree. But you can tackle him once he has the ball and it's out of the ruck
