That looked awesome, we seem way faster than them in light air

At least this time the biggest lead we could get before losing is 6-1.

Love the way there is a big gap between days 2 and 3 just in case Oracle is losing so Larry can head to the bank and buy a win.

The idea is to ram them at the start then.

That might be strangely prescient albeit the other way around. There was a comment on the radio yesterday that Oracle have admitted to having a second race boat. Ram us, both boats broken and they can sail around uncontested in their spare. Wouldn't put it past the pricks either.

Still, good to see us with an apparent advantage in light airs. We seem to point higher, or have greater boat speed with a similar angle.

I will now go to Warkworth and nobble any of the bastards wandering around in Oracle shirts before they head to Bermuda.

They're nerds who deal with hydro dynamics and carbon fibre. If there's more than 5 of them to beat me about the head with a laptop them I'll give you call...

Fucken ripper, 2 more tomorrow and we will get to see Coutts ripping into cuntface again like 4 years ago.
Hopefully the comeback doesn't happen tho

Ian Percy talked about the final being down to sailing. That only applies if there is no significant difference in boat speed. We appear to have a significant speed advantage which is massive. We need to try and finish Oracle off as fast as possible to negate the influence of Larry's billions. By the sounds of it we have learned our lesson from SF and ETNZ will continue to improve the boat right until the end. How was Jimmy at the presser? 🙂

              TNZ winning the first race..

But man another hiccup at the last mark.. Led by 1.49 minutes, and only won by 30 secs

Just saw that the scores started with TNZ at -1 and Oracle at 0. So Oracle need to win 7, and TNZ need to win 8.
I thought Oracle had 1 point already, and only need 6 more to get to 7.

Apparently the -1 was due to a desire to ensure a minimum number of races.

Apparently ETNZ "are under no illusions"... jesus, Burling sounded like a retard when he was answering questions, other when he was just completely honest:
"Peter... if Oracle's good news is that they're only one down, what's your good news?"
                "That we're one up."
                Cue laughter...
and then more rabbit-in-headlights babble with "we're under no illusions" thrown in a few times.

@mimic Yeah - I'd like it if he wins, but I was cringing when I heard "look, we're under no illusions.." for the third time. And I never got around to counting it, but I think there was another 3 times.
And I also enjoyed watching Jimmy chewing tacks while answering questions, and when Pete made honest off-the-cuff un-politicial answers.

oracle cut the lead from ~600m to almost overtaking them.. and then oracle make a mistake and TNZ break away to a 500m lead

Watched both races while out at lunch, those boats still amaze me, the speed and agility of them is astounding, plus all that pressure on the 'foil things' when they are flying, nose down, look ready for a crash!

ETNZ win both races this morning... Hold a 3-0 lead

ETNZ have managed to win all the starts and race to Mark 1. The races against Artemis seemed to have helped

was the gap this big last time before Oracle pulled it back?

                                    1100m in the 4th race - incredible.

                                      All very convincing so far.

Been betting on these races (like I have right thru the LV series with great success) and odds for NZ win have been $2 (race 1 and 2), $1.80 (race 3) and $1.67 (race 4). Bookies generally are pretty good with this stuff so that odds trend says a lot about what they are thinking. Doesnt change much to change the outcome of these races so would expect next race to still be around $1.50-1.60 for NZ

Probably not. Our whole package seems to be better than One Rich Arsehole Called Larry Ellison, this time around. Both hydro and aero dynamics, team work, cyclors v grinders, etc. We could have just sailed away in today's races with the faster boat, but sensibly chose to cover. Last time we had the better boat in light air but not so much if the wind picked up. Will be interesting if it gets stronger next weekend. Bloody annoying that they have a whole week to remedy things and that we loose the chance to push home the advantage.

Was good to hear that it normally takes 80 days and 15,000 pieces of carbon fibre to build a new foil, (unfortunately Oracle have them already). 30 pieces of silver changed history apparently, so who knows what a billionaire can do?

Not sure if it's true but read there's a limit to the modifications that can be made this late in the cup.
Certainly can't chuck into the crew a Ben Ainsley.
