    Wellington, October 10, 2009.<br />
    <br />
    Mark that day as the day that Arnold will be dethroned...<br />
    <br />
    Thanks to Mrs BartMan, and her need to have goals to train for (as opposed to me, who just likes training), I have become a bodybuilder, and will be competing at the above date in the couples and individual competitions, as will Mrs B.<br />
    <br />
    I thought it would be easier to do the eating right and fat stripping diets with Mrs B, and thus deflect some of the grumpiness coming my way when the hunger pains hit, with grumpiness of mine own <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> <br />
    <br />
    Ww went and saw our PT yesterday, Teresa Edwards, 6 times ( Or thereabouts) NZ champion, and get our eating plans and weights schedules ready for Monday kickoff.<br />
    <br />
    Lots of weights, sod all aerobic at this stage was her call, so rowing will no longer be hard out twice a day, longer slower rows. Sucks, but do it once, do it right...!!<br />
    <br />
    Will post a 'before' photo shortly of me (probably not of Mrs B, as she is shy, as least until closer to the day I expect).<br />
    <br />
    Wish us luck, and get your tickets now, I am sure it will be a sell out xzxrofl

      Good luck Bartman, will you be taking any roids for that classic Arnie look ? <br />
      <br />
      No pressure but I'm expecting you to look something like this...<br />

        I already do....<br />
        <br />
        Was talking to our Trainer about drugs - and she was saying the that 'juice boys' will spend $10,000 per competition on 'extras'!!!<br />
        <br />
        And no, not talking to her about taking them, just talking as you do about the freaks in the sport!!

          Did you by any chance see that doco on Justin Rys the dude from Wellington ? he has some rather large vein popping guns on him and used to live next door to my then girlfriend now wife. Myself and a mate had just helped her move in and had carried a particularly heavy, awkward fridge up the stairs, JR rolled up in his Merc ( this was pre jail ) and had a chat to us, I said that it was a shame he hadn't turned up earlier cos he could have scooped up the the fridge in one arm and carried it up for us ! <br />
          <br />
          Apparently his weekly grocery bill used to top a grand and he'd frequently chunder trying to chow down enough food to maintain his bulk. He was a bit gutted when he got out of jail cos he could only bench press 220kg ( sub standard gym equipment in the slammer ) after doing more previously. What a fucken weakling eusa_whistle

            So whats the basic plan? Are you bulking and then start cutting around July?<br />
            <br />
            Have either of you done a contest before?

              I did a contest nigh on 20 years ago!! 1989 or 90! MrsB not done anything like this before, but once a goal is set, the focus comes on, and whammo.<br />
              <br />
              SO yes basically start up is building more muscle mass, and then start leaning off about three months out or so - will know exactly what the plan is when we receive our first programme in the next day or so.

                    Not trying to piss in your pocket too much Bartman but you'd be in pretty decent shape already wouldn't you ie 95 kg, lots of rowing and able to push a fair bit of weight ?

                        Jebus I'd hate to be around your place during the cutting up period.. used to train at a gym with one of the top nz amateurs - most of the year he'd be a good dude but sheesh the 6 weeks leading up to a comp you'd just steer clear.. grumpiest ba$tard on the planet!

                          PT has set us on both on programmes - bulding muscle - rep range 12-10-8 and the 'floss' muscles (lat raises etc) 15s mainly.<br />
                          <br />
                          Diet plenty of protein, sod all carbs already.<br />
                          <br />
                          Body parts once per week.<br />
                          <br />
                          Only allowed slow rowing, which sucks, but minimal aerobic activity at this stage of proceedings.<br />
                          <br />
                          All Good though, week one almost over!!

                            into second week now, the eating is a breeze, just resign yourself to being a bit peckish and having no energy, and wallah, done!! Not really the peckish thing, but is easy if you are organised.<br />
                            <br />
                            Weights have been good - although the leg workout almost destroys you - that is a full body workout and a half!<br />
                            <br />
                            other bits and bobs not so bad, although arms, which only get about three exercises apiece are also killers.<br />
                            <br />
                            SO week 2, and loving it. <br />
                            <br />
                            We were told not to worry about weight, as that means nothing, but I love facts and figures, so weight is now down to 93kg, 8kg to go before I can play for Donsteppa's rugby team... <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> Better indicator is my belt is now in need of another notch drilled in it!

                              I've kept carbs to a minimum over the last few months and snuck down to 98-99kg but sometimes don't feel up to huge weights sessions as much. Bart how are you dealing with doing weights and having bugger all energy ?

                                just do it! Don't think about the energy, or perceived lack of it. Just do your workout and rip into it full noise!<br />
                                <br />
                                That's my theory anyway, and has been fine for 6 workouts.<br />
                                <br />
                                Love my leg workouts. Don't squat until the third exercise, start out with 10 minutes of walking lunges, then seated leg extensions, 4 x 15 reps, and then squats (40 seconds rest intervals). By the time I am squatting legs are already shaking and thrashed. Foloow with leg curls and stiff leg deadlifts, then calves. Feel like death at the end, but a good death!!

                                      Hey MN5, get on to the Almonds (kernals) bro. Eat them 3 times a day. They are the highest protein nut and they do things to help the cravings.<br />
                                      <br />
                                      Nothing beats fruit and vegies as well. Get into the 3 or 4 bean mixes (but without all the added sauces, oils etc)

                                        Hey MN5, get on to the Almonds (kernals) bro. Eat them 3 times a day. They are the highest protein nut and they do things to help the cravings.<br />
                                        <br />
                                        Nothing beats fruit and vegies as well. Get into the 3 or 4 bean mixes (but without all the added sauces, oils etc)[/quote]<br />
                                        <br />
                                        Yeah good thinking, I do love almonds ( and I suppose I can't justify having bacon and eggs every morning sadly, luckily there usually isn't time in the morning ! ) I always try and knock off a couple of carrots and apples a day as well...
