If you want the ultimate, you've got to be willing to pay the ultimate price. It's not tragic to die doing what you love.

Is this nerdy enough for you Nepia?

Me too...

It came out when I was at uni in Waikato, so it was a movie about utter loser surfers, quoted by guys who spent all their uni time at Raglan surfing, talking about the zen of surfing, before a life working in Pack & Save. That clouded my judgement.

And even then a lot of that 80's / 90's looks reeeeeally bad now, I loved Tom Gun, but watching it now its hard not to think "this is without doubt the gayest thing I have ever seen"

I knew there was something wrong with you
-

none of the surfers I knew wouldnt ever use any of the lines from it, even me as a wannabe surfer didnt use the lines except to wind up my real surfer friends...nice point break, long workable rides.

Cheesy, but still awesome.

When? I'm disappointed you felt the need to ask and that you haven't already..

Fruitvale Station: This was a great movie. It had been recommended to me a bunch of times but lived up to the hype.

It's not a fast paced movie though so if you don't like slow movers this may not be the movie for you.

If you've heard the story:
It's basically just what Oscar does in the day before he gets killed at Fruitvale Station. And then the last 20 odd minutes deals with the incident - it was quite hard watching really
The star of the movie is Michael B Jordan, who was Wallace on The Wire and was in Friday Night Lights last few seasons. I think he's the new Denzel.

I finally saw it last night. I like the series and will probably line-up-and-pay to see the next installment, but it's feeling like it's treading water. 6.5/10

Seems like Marvel and Wheddon were fighting over the final cut, so some of the movie didn't make sense as it was cut. Thor's arc in particular.

I'll probably enjoy it more the next time I see it. I enjoyed the Olsen kid, and Renner was excellent.

As I noted in my earlier post I was most impressed they made Hawkeye interesting, if Whedon gets any credit it should be for that!

There's an Empire podcast with Whedon where he discusses some of the changes and why he left stuff in/out - IIRC he made the decision to cut most of the Thor stuff. It's a decent listen.
