Brilliant.
If I recall he had a reputation as a bit of a weirdo at that time, after jumping on Oprah's couch and a bunch of other stuff. Sort of made people seem him in a good light again

Not for me, he was always just Philip Seymour Hoffman in every role he played (to me). The love for him as an actor always bemuses me, DDL I can understand because I think he was a truly great actor pre Gangs.
Really? Boogie Nights, Capote, Charlie Wilsons War for example.
Examples of Philip Seymour Hoffman being in movies - yes.
Still just seems like PSH to me.I guess some acting techniques resonate with people and others don't, his doesn't with me. It doesn't mean I don't like his movies or his presence in them ruins them for me, I just don't think he's immersive like others do.

Fair enough. It's not like I don't like movies that Marky Mark has been in either. Some of them are excellent, despite him.

Great movie. I'm still embarrassed to admit I didn't even identify Cruise until well into the flick
I remember telling my wife that it was him in the theatre and she didn't believe me!
I didn't realise Brad Pitt in The Big Short for a while.

Gangster Squad. Meh.
Great cast wasted, great costumes and set, crap story and script and so much violence/shoot outs it lost its impact after a while to the point of oh, best grab a cuppa while they do their thing again. They reckon based on a true story, but pretty much everything is wrong, so again meh.
Storks. (Animated) quite a laugh, similar in tone to Shrek, jokes for all ages. Fave characters: the wolf pack.

Disney's Onward. Soooo good. Really enjoyed the idea of it too, in a magical land where noone uses magic anymore two teens get to bring back their deceased dad for 24hrs. So sweet, proper family movie.

Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker
Solid movie, nothing special but was good enough, guess it goes back to the more simplistic goodies vs baddies and the goodies can survive unbelievable situatons more often than baddies can.
3.5 more cute animals or droids out of 5 holy fucks, look how many destroyers they have

Iām ok with escapism but this is so hilariously overplayed I can only watch one set piece at a time. The one with the horses was the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen.
