I don't mind Marshall as a commentator but he never fully grasps all the laws. It must be at least 3 years that halfback hands on ball = not out of the ruck. So Franks very much mistimed his tackle on Murray.

The problem i had with that one was that the 9 was the one that was over the ball making it 'not out' yet was given the protection the halfback gets before he picks it up. Either he is halfback, not part of the ruck and the ball is out or he is part of the ruck meaning the ball isn't out and he is fair game to be cleaned out.

That's not how World Rugby sees it though. Halfback hands on ball on ground at back of ruck => tackled/cleaned out => penalty every time.

@MN5 go back in this thread, there is a link to an article where BB says he (Ioane) had beaten him in the sprint testing earlier that day.

Heard TJP saying BB quicker over 50. RI quicker over 100

Nothing to see there. SBW was covering wide and Teo just standing still. Only SBW changes direction when he realised the pass wasn't coming.

Cruden's fault was to kick away a ball that had to be recycled.

Mark Reason continually trolls and makes snide comments and then wonders why the kiwis who have the misfortune to know him contact him gloating about the result. Instead of dwelling on the fact that despite him living here for a number of years he still regarded as an outsider and asking himself why that is he decides that the problem is not with him it's the kiwis .

@jegga given some of the headlines I saw of his tripe last week, we are the ones that are smug?

He seemed to be getting pretty excited by the prospect the great Lions would finally get one over the cheating colonials!

Yeah he did and he bought into Gatlands bleating about blocking .

What a crock. Who are these kiwis that have contacted him and said they want the ABs to lose? Invented?
If Hansen appeared smug it was because he won a battle against Gatland. All the ref talk was a smokescreen while he made non directed comments saying he looked forward to an epic game of contrasting styles and everyone fell for it. Meanwhile he just planned to take them on at their own game which caught them by surprise.

What team sport doesn't have fans that crow after an international win? Name them. It's what makes sport have fans and therefore all the associated stuff like journalists.

May have missed it in thread, but see DMac called into AB squad. Interesting that Jordie released to Canes, which suggests they're seeing him as project at this stage.

Anyone that applies a group-think mentality (I.E. "NZ fans are this, Lions fans are that") is completely retarded. Not worth getting worked up over someone's articles when they are so mentally weak. Just completely ignore it, I come to the Fern to avoid reading stuff like that.

The guy is just painful. Scan the headline never read the articles. He's treating the series like a moral crusade teacher vs pupil. Naughty public too arrogant too smug meanwhile having orgasms after the Crusaders Maoris and Chiefs game about the lions which is of course his team. He's not a kiwi and he'll never convince anyone he is.

mes our kick chase was disjointed.

I was just responding to above criticism with some saying that was Reads fault, some said Crudens.

Cruden's fault was to kick away a ball that had to be recycled.

It was a good kick that had the lions under real pressure. A couple of missed tackles and a great individual run and it was one of the best test tries I've seen in a while. But if we effect any tackle early on they are fucked

Hansen to demand again that Gatland stop bullying the refs...

I doubt Gatland remotely has a sniff at the NZ job. Too much Mitchell/Deans with the media.

Not a lot of mention of Farrell's rather poor game.
Considering the amount he is talked up as being critical to the teams he plays in he was a big disappointment.
It was like he was dumbfounded and had nothing to offer.

I have long held a theory on Farrell (as with most post-Wilko 1st fives) that he is mentally fragile and lacks the ability to control or change the tempo of a game when the pressure comes on. I've noticed that if the offensive defence can get into his head, he tends to fall to pieces when put under a significant amount of pressure, and doesn't get the required "protection" or easy ride from the pack.
