Good, but I'd prefer they give up on cricket and make it suit the football codes.
100%. Eden Park number 2 for cricket. Dont need 60k for cricket.

I'd like to see more details on the proposed North stand. There's a brief glimpse on the video but it's hard to tell.. if they manage to take out most of the bottom tier of the North stand for the cricket configuration that should gain a few metres on the straight boundary
White ball cricket has actually been quite good at Eden Park. Up until recently I was attending every event at Eden Park so I saw plenty of it. For whatever reason it keeps producing entertaining games, not all dominated by the bat either.
Auckland needs to build a small Test venue somewhere else though

It really pisses me off when they go on about being "New Zealands National Stadium"
It's total bollocks and obviously people trying to claim Twickenham like status when NZ distributed games around the country unlike the NH.
Have noticed them claiming it in more and more materials in recent years and cannot say I am keen

The Waterfront option hasn't been seriously talked about for years
This is just a proposal for now. It may not happen (I suspect stage I & II will happen. The last two stages will be harder to fund)

It's an attempt by Eden Park Trust Board to get people to buy into an unnecessary expansion of a white elephant because they can't afford to run and maintan Eden Park as is.

That move (and the change of focus for Mt Smart) has been talked about for ages. It's probably complicated by Moana Pasifika now. Their dozens of fans would have to move too
Before covid there was going to be a double header at Eden Park. The Warriors in an NRL match followed by a Blues SR match. I'd like to see that scheduled again to see how well it works

Plan A - 2012 - Eden Park used for rugby, league and one-day and T20 cricket - Speedway moves to Mt Smart; Western Springs used for test cricket - Mt Smart becomes training base for league, a high-performance centre and home of athletics - North Harbour Stadium used by North Harbour Rugby and football --- Plan B - 2014 - Eden Park left to fend for itself after rejecting cost-cutting proposals. Warriors move to Eden Park or North Harbour Stadium after 2018 - North Harbour gets a $12m makeover including a roof over the western stand - Cricket gets $12m boutique oval at Western Springs, which remains a concert venue - Speedway goes to Mt Smart at a cost of $5m --- Plan C - 2016 - Eden Park keeps big rugby and cricket matches - Warriors stay at Mt Smart at least until 2028. Ground gets $10m over three years for league and concerts - North Harbour gets some rugby and football. $12m upgrade delayed - Speedway stays at Western Springs until 2019 when it moves to South Auckland - Western Springs becomes cricket ground and concert venue --- Plan D - 2019 - Eden Park left to fend for itself with major rugby matches and a possible council bailout - Warriors stay at Mt Smart until 2028 when they may shift to Eden Park. After 2028, Mt Smart becomes a community stadium and high-performance centre - Western Springs becomes a cricket ground for tests, T20 and one-day internationals at a cost of $91 million. Venue for concerts and AFL matches - North Harbour becomes a community stadium for events with fewer than 10,000 spectators. - Remains home of North Harbour Rugby. High-performance centre for rugby, football and baseball -

It’s great but it should be at Quay Park over the the railway land. I don’t know why these guys (EPTB) don’t sell their bloody land, get a consortium together, and use the proceeds to build exactly what they have presented here at Quay Park right next to Spark Arena (or whatever it is called now). They could still call it Eden park.
That location has ALL the transport links. Every railway line in the city converges there. The ferries are one stop away at Britomart. The Tamaki Drive arterial to the eastern suburbs is right there. The busways are down the road (again one stop away at Britomart or the future Aotea station). The motorway spaghetti junction is not that far away up Stanley street. There won’t be any complaining residents (they live next to railway lines they can hardly complain about a stadium). They could host everything there 24/7 all year long and make all the money they want.

Understandably, given the history of land confiscations, going public with plans for a stadium without consulting with the people who own the land you want to build on has been less than constructive.

Understandably, given the history of land confiscations, going public with plans for a stadium without consulting with the people who own the land you want to build on has been less than constructive.
No that’s incorrect. Ngati Whatua were in full support of the Quay Park site being used for a stadium. They’d actually get ground rent from such a deal. They already had plans to develop that dead land and a stadium was a catalyst for it. The last time the quay park proposal was floated, Ngati Whatua were in full support.
