nothing wrong with a corona provided you have lemon or lime otherwise don't even bother.

@Stockcar86 great white is a lovely drop but hard to find unfortunately. Boundary Road did a really nice Summer beer some years back but perhaps it wasn't popular cos I've never seen it since.

I went on Contiki years ago. Was in Nice drinking coronas at a bar. A Mexican guy on the trip asked me why I put a lemon wedge in the neck. I told him that's the way you drink them, to which he replied not in Mexico we don't!

what a condescending arsehole. Geez Trump can't build that wall fast enough if you ask me....

Hell of a nice guy. Almost missed the coach the morning after sharing 2L of tequila he brought with him for the trip the night before

tequila is the one spirit I genuinely can't stand. there's a reason people do it in shots....

but I do love a Corona and other Mexican cuisine....

Oh yeah, I don't get people that like to sip Tequila. It's a slam shot or nothing for me

The shit tequila you typically get in NZ/UK bars - yeah, shot-only.
    Good tequila - perfectly sippable.

Lemon in Corona - I believe did start in Mexico, but only done by some places as a way of sterilising the mouth of the bottle, in places where the beer was stored in very dusty/sandy conditions.
Similar to how you find some old-school barmen (sorry - barpeople) who'll stuff a tissue lightly in the mouth of any bottled beer they serve, for you to wipe the neck/mouth with.
But then, I guess westerners saw the lemon thing, like it - realised the beer (like many) did taste much better after sticking the lemon right down the neck into the beer, rather than just twisting it around and throwing it away.... and hey...

I think it's just the flavour I don't like. A mate of mine gave me a few sips of some spirits that was 80% alcohol and that was more sippable than tequila.

@Kruse I expect that is similar of most spirits...

Cheap nasty Whisky/ey compared to a good quality drop, cheap nastyl vodka vs a quality drop...

That said, I'll take your word for it on the Tequila haha

Back in my uni days we would mix it up with lime and shoot it from water guns, or just do laybacks. I can't see the sense in letting it swill around in my mouth any longer than it must

Vodka and Rum are my go to spirits and I'm pretty happy having bog standard cheap stuff. the Lion Brown/Tui equivalent.

I love a vodka and lemonade or a rum and coke particularly.

Tequila brand Jose Cuervo has launched an all-you-can-drink tequila train experience that travels from Guadalajara to Tequila, Mexico.

Tickets start at NZ$160 and are promised to include the all-you-can-drink tequila open bar, expert tasting and a tour at La Rojeña distillery (said to be one of the oldest in the Americas), games, music, food and entertainment.

The company claims the experience is 'unforgettable,' but that may depend on how much you drink.

So I had a Panhead this weekend, and I remembered it being talked of favourably on this thread, but whichever one I had was just way to sweet.

Although I did have various other drinks beforehand so was likely not getting a pure taste.

@Nepia I have never seen a red labelled one. Only Blue, Orange and Yellow.

@mariner4life I'm a bit rubbish with stronger craft beers. They knock me about a bit much

Maybe it was actually orange ... it was about hour 4 in the stag party. 😉

a night of Panhead Superchargers fucked me over well and truly. At the time they go down as smooth as any other beer but fuck me the hangover the next day was horrific. Ex dropped the boys round pretty early, let's just say alot of the day was spent watching youtube/gaming.

outstanding drop but Lakeman is even better I reckon.

First, I must make a confession, I am a massive craft beer piston wristed gibbon but no, I don't have a beard or skinny jeans. Been into craft beer for well over a decade and still can't get enough. Favourite styles right now are: IPA's, IIPA's, IIIPA's and NEIPA's.

Been a huge fan of NZ crafties and have tried quite a few. Recently, I've been getting a fair few of the Deep Creek brews over here in Aus which is awesome. Big fan of their Brewtiful Haze NEIPA but at $35-39 for a 4 pack of 440 ml cans so very expensive. Just wondering how much they are there in NZ?

On my last visit to NZ in Jan/Feb 18, I tried to get to as many breweries as possible as well as tasting as many local brews as I could.

    The highlights for me were:

    Auckland
Visiting Deep Creek on Auckland's North Shore, what a great venue, awesome beers.

The Brewers Co-operative in Auckland city, went there with my cousin, stayed for many more than planned. So many taps and the food is pretty damn good too, I can recommend the clams. We went from here to the Brothers Beer, had a couple and went, nah, and straight back to the Brewers Co-operative.

    Wellington
When in Welly, there really is only one place that has to be on everyone's itinerary - Garage Project. Nirvana!

A new brewery at the time and I spent some time chatting with them at that years Wellington Wine, Food and Craft Beer festival is Fortune Favours, really enjoyed their beers. Got an invite to their new location at the time and we spent one hell of an afternoon there.
