I'm pretty disgusted by the Boogie signing. How on earth can the GSW have the cash to throw at yet another All Star even for just one season? And what does this mean for next season? A fucking inevitable result I'd say.

May as well just start the 2018/19 finals now but give the Celtics a three game start so there's some interest in it, and get 2019/20 underway.

NBA can get fucked with that trade. 5 All stars in one team 3 who are starters!

All Lebron needs to piece together is Giannis, Porzingis, Simmons, Embidd, Kawhai and Harding (mid season trade) and hes good

Yep thats about the size of it. He needed Kawhai with him as it was in order to compete with GSW, but now he needs at least one more All Star and it's highly unlikely to happen.

@shark he's on a 1 year $5 million contract with a player option at the end of it. Makes sense given he will miss the first two months of the season and come 2019-20 there will be more teams with big cap space to offer him close to a max deal (which he is probably worth).

I'm just fucked off. I could care less about the financials. It's the principle of it and the lack of spectacle I expect in 2018/19 that really shit me.

@shark it's not like we haven't seen this sort of thing before when a successful team finds a way to find another star.

There will be plenty hoping for 2004 Lakes style fail. Don't think it will happen but the target just got a bit bigger.

So the East is basically a second division which gets to play the NBA champion Golden State Warriors at the end of the season?

At least the Toronto Raptors have a chance now at getting past Lebron....

@sneakdefreak its basically the ITM/Mitre10 cup. Premiership/championship that have a few cross over games that are more of less pointless

I think it's fascinating, but you have to change your perspective. The end result is meaningless, it's the process that counts.

The goalposts for me shift away from the overarching narrative (who will hold the trophy in June) and onto the countless other stories in the League.

How will Lebron's Lakers get their shit together?
Who will make the West playoffs, and who will miss?
Will the Sixers keep improving, and will they take it to the Celtics?
What will the Spurs to with Kawhi, and what will the Thunder do with Carmelo?

                  Etc. etc. etc.

You just stare at the trees and forget about the forest.

I just read no other team made any offers to Cousins. He called the Warriors himself, and they said "yep"

                      That's astounding.

I wonder if other teams thought he'd only want a big long term deal? He will only stay one year regardless

The Pelicans reportedly offered Demarcus Cousins a 2-Year/$40 Million deal before the season ended. Cousins turned it down and then the Pelicans took the deal off the table, per @TheSteinLine.— Hoop Central (@TheHoopCentral) July 3, 2018

This is how I think the decision was made. He has a bad rep, he is now broken. He can get a ring and only play two 3rds of the season(due back In Dec 18) to do it. If his body doesn't respond well at least he has a ring. If his body does respond then he has a ring and can negotiate a max contract. $5m is small based on his ability but he knows things are probably going to get better in 12 months.

@raznomore there are a lot of win wins surrounding this deal.

No team was going to offer him the sort of money he wanted knowing that he won’t be playing for another 6 months and that there is always a risk coming back from an achilles.

He calls the Warriors (he likes living in Cali as an aside) and they offer him a one year minimum vets contract with the player option knowingbfill well that he will miss at least the first quarter of the season. No other team could or would bear that risk as they are either chasing the Warriors or on a rebuild.

The Warriors depth allows them to take such a risk knowing that if he does get his body right that they have a 25 and 12 guy that extends the defence and has excellent skills.

                              Win wins.

@rocky-rockbottom given his situation I think him holding out will be more beneficial financially. He just needs to get his body right and then he’ll get close to $30+ million per season and probably a 3 or 4 year deal.

                                That’s a smart move Imo.
