Just let Sheilds go already..just in terms of a young guy coming through, just wanna get some thoughts on Shannon Frizell who is with the Highlanders quite a unit at 6โ€™5 and 108kgs I was very impressed with this guy playing for Ta$man last year and he looked extra good against the Brumbies last weekend..maybe one for the future..?

Frizell certainly popped up in the right places a few times last night! The sort of attention-grabbing performance that might have Hansen re-running that game through his laptop to see what else he got up to.

@chris-b bit of a no name up to now isn't he? Hansen will probably ring Billy tell first to find out if he's heard of him, because if he hasn't it's a no go.

I thought at the time that was a reckless post by @antipodean I hope heโ€™s getting the seasoning ready

      I'm intrigued about the logistics.

When Shields plays for England he will add to the phenomenon that was the 2011 JWC final.

16 of that NZ team will now have become full test players (13 of them All Blacks, 3 of them for other countries). It was also a vintage England team that year. I count 8 that I recognise as test players but probably a few others have as well.

England: 15 Ben Ransom, 14 Andy Short, 13 Elliot Daly, 12 Owen Farrell, 11 Christian Wade, 10 George Ford, 9 Chris Cook, 8 Alex Gray (capt), 7 Matt Kvesic, 6 Sam Jones, 5 Charlie Matthews, 4 Joe Launchbury, 3 Henry Thomas, 2 Mikey Haywood, 1 Mako Vunipola.
Replacements: 16 Rob Buchanan, 17 Will Collier, 18 Sam Twomey, 19 Matt Everard, 20 Dan Robson, 21 Ryan Mills, 22 Marland Yarde.

New Zealand: 15 Beauden Barrett, 14 Mitchell Scott, 13 Francis Saili, 12 Lima Sopoaga, 11 Charles Piutau, 10 Gareth Anscombe, 9 TJ Perenara, 8 Luke Whitelock (capt), 7 Sam Cane, 6 Brad Shields, 5 Brodie Rettalick, 4 Steven Luatua, 3 Ben Tameifuna, 2 Codie Taylor, 1 Solomona Sakalia.
Replacements: 16 Sefo Setefano, 17 Michael Kainga, 18 Dominic Bird, 19 Carl Axtens, 20 Brad Weber, 21 Rhys Llewellyn, 22 Waisake Naholo.

@taniwharugby Agreed. 'Brad's been a very very good servant of the game in New Zealand for a long period of time. He's asked for some dispensation and having given that serious consideration we're happy to release him and wish him the best'.

That way it's about recognition of his service, which is the important precedent to set, NZR looks magnanimous and England get to shore up their dwindling stock of blindside flankers.

The looking magnanimous is a bit of a reach at this point. We all know what it really is. Fucking foot-dragging around with customs papers when the ship has already sailed.

โ€œThere's no point not acknowledging that Brad's been a very very good servant of the game for a long period of time.โ€

Well Steve, just say Bradโ€™s been an excellent servant of the game instead of the weird double negatives that makes it sound like itโ€™s been dragged out of you.

The signing was announced in March so you would have expected him to be playing there now.

Who was he playing for? Last season he played for Ham OB but wasn't on their team list for today's game.
