Stefan Bellof once lapped the Nürburgring Nordschleife in a Porsche 956 in 6 minutes, 11.13 seconds, a record that stood since 1983.
Porsche took their Le Mans winning 919, removed the restrictions, shed some weight and subsequently did a lap in 5 minutes, 19.546 seconds.
That's an average speed increase of 15% over the fastest previous.
