Gatland dives for tryline a metre early, fucks up an unfuckup-able try.

Wales looking like Indian bookies have taken an interest in rugby.
And the Welsh players have a few teenage pregnancies to pay for.

All over, pair of tries trumps pair of penalties.

                A dodgy Kiwi TMO.

I think England deserved the win but Wales were unlucky with the Anscombe no-try and then Williams was denied by excellent defence.

Speaking of Anscombe, Wales looked better on attack when he moved to 1st 5.

Agree about Anscombe which is surprising as his biggest issue in NZ was standing off and stifling attack.
I just don't get what pictures the TMO was watching or what odd interpretation he was using. Maybe he had been watching the 10s?
Anscombes hand came down on the ball first and the ball hand and ground were all connected.

Yeah that TMO call was odd, I saw the first replay and said try so headed off to the kitchen for supplies. Come back and he's saying the defending player got there first?

Anyway, how frustratingly shit was Wales ability to finish or even at least just have some continuity after breaking the line? Seemed every time they broke, the player had no idea what to do so would usually just take the tackle.. Unless they went all genius and put in a grubber to no-one, stopped and fell on the ground instead of diving at the line, or just plain dropped the ball.

                    England should have dicked them.

England definitely won the kicking duel and Davies made Marshall look like A Smith with the speed of his pass.

Just finished watching England v Wales. Farrell is a seriously impressive player, easily the best on the park. I would take him at 12 for us in a heartbeat.

I sort of don't know what to make if the game. First half england owned them but didn't really look like scoring. Still kick away too much good ball. Impressive slide defense as well.

2nd half wales much better. Offloiads and inside balls opened england up, but shit the error count. And in the end that was the difference.

Mike Brown is still a mouthy dick who should absolutely been carded for slapping that ball.

We've got to work harder to be more accurate to take the decisions away from the referee and TMO'

Time to reflect on the game and it needed a further watch really. This was down to the level of anxiety and of course the constant, irritating and quite frankly wrong, commentary courtesy of Mrs Cato. It's no wonder I prefer to go to the pub to watch tests these days.

Anyway. First off, poor conditions and I don't see either side as having the skills under pressure to play anything like an expansive game under the circs. England played the conditions much better than Wales early on with an intelligent kicking game backed up by good chasing and support. Result was try no1. England also played the pick and go very well, certainly in the first half, punching holes to create space. Result try no2. In the end that was (just) enough.

So why was it such a tight game? Primarily I feel because Wales refused to buckle and kept their discipline very well under pressure. Secondary was England's failure to keep the scoreboard pressure up; with Wales not coughing up penalty chances and a slippery ball compounding small errors, there is nothing wrong with the odd droppie or two to add pressure. Probably a bit naive in this sense.

Wales slow start really cost them. That and their lack of precision in attack where I felt that many of the old guard reverted to Warrenball at times. The new boys in general held up well and you have to ask the question why hasn't Shingler got more caps? He's got some serious wheels for a big guy and a good engine too. Alright he tried that daft grubber, but bloody hell he carved us up a couple of times. England's first up defence caused a lot of problems but I also felt we scrambled well when we had to. Take a bow Owen Farrell and Sam Underhill.

Finally, try or no try? Whilst I can see why the TMO said no try I was surprised he did as usually the decision seems to go to the attacking side. 70/30 try to me. However Wales were lucky to be in that position, it was a pretty poor kick from Patchell (I think) that bobbled off Evans' knee. A Hail Mary kick knowing the penalty was coming that was very close to being a knock on. Nothing wrong with taking the chance but neither was it constructive attacking play. Still unlucky though.

Good luck in Dublin to our friends from across the Taff. If you would please do us a favour and knock over Ireland I'd be grateful.
