As poor and at sea as Nicholls looked in the ODIs, he has done well in the whites so far this match

DRS is good - pre DRS people would be having a whinge about the umpire and it wouldn't feel as good if CDG got a big score. Now no one cares that he was lucky.

There's always a chance of a collapse but in the absence of that, I'd declare with around 130 overs left in the test. Should be enough runs not to have to bat again but a decent spell with a 2nd new ball if required.

I think Nicholls can be good at all formats but batting him at 6 in ODIs is redundant.

300 lead. Realistically they won't have time to set us a target now, so would like to see us kick on or declare in the near future.

Both Smith and rigor were adamant we need to be bowling this session. But not so early we lose the shine for the evening session.

Time to declare IMO. Bring up 400 if they must, but they need to be bowling at them, not batting now.

I think we keep batting till very late in this session. I like the idea of having a new ball for each night session. Both tonight's and tomorrow nights (if needed)
