I turned on Radio Sport for a bit, but the trumpets and 'Stu-art Broad....Stu-art Broad" irritated me so much I turned it off. Could barely hear the commentators.

The silly part was that obviously the TV comms are isolated from the sound such that Doully decided he had to explain that the chant was "He's big. He's bad. He's better than his dad. Stuart Brooaad... Stuart Brooaad ... "
Fuck sake we've been hearing it loud and clear for the last 20 minutes !

Actually, their figures aren't that bad... Raval is still very new, so who knows how accurate his average etc are, but Latham averages over 37 from 36 tests, so is one of our better test openers - arguably 4th behind Turner, Wright and Richardson (in chronological order).
No love for Edgar and Franklin? They didn't score quick but by golly they took the shine off the new ball.
I like both, but Franklin is miles behind on the stats, possibly because he didn't play that long (has a Lords 100 but that's about it - 828 runs at 23.00 ave, 1 x 100, 4 x 50s). Edgar has closer stats (1959 runs at 30.59 ave, 3 x 100s, 12 x 50s) and faced tougher opposition, so he could be ranked ahead of Latham based on that. For reference, Latham's current stats are 2342 runs at 37.77 ave, 6 x 100s, 13 x 50s. Some of that is against Bangladesh and Zimbabwe and obviously the WIndies have slipped a bit since Edgar's day, so as I say, Edgar could easily be placed above Latham for now. If Latham continues for 5-10 years and maintains his average, he'll be one of our great openers.

Valid - both well before my time, so didn't come up on the original "list" that I was riffing off either.

Yep, long way back now. The first hour of each day has consistently been the toughest time to bat. If we can get through to lunch not more than 3 down then we're still a chance because wickets will get harder to come by but with Kane back in the shed already England will be smelling blood in the water.

Instead, he replicates a sweep shot he'd played a ball or two prior, only for a fielder to have moved there in the meantime. Dumb, dumb batting.

I've been stuck with this bandwagon forever. I just wish some days it was a less stressful one

@virgil easier to follow along behind the bandwagon, that way when they make a wrong turn you can cruise off the other way like you were never part of it!
