I follow the aussie netball league.
It's a quality sports league. NZ should want to be a part of it.
They just need suck up their pride; talk finances and sell themselves as an economic market (not a netball merket).
The NZ economy is about the same size as Vic and Qld, and they have two teams.
NSW also has 2 teams (NSW economy is a little larger)
That is obviously how the Aussies planned it.
When they revamped the league, Netball NZ should have been able to get two teams in to it, but not three.
In a marketing sense that wouldn't add up.

WA is also about the same size economy as NZ/Vic/Qld, but they only have one team.
The West Coast Fever are a power house sports franchise, and average crowds of 10,000 per game.

@mohikamo I assume the seasons overlap? If so it would take some serious reorganisation to allow for one or two teams in the Aussie comp that are separate from our own domestic comp, which likely means two teams in some cities

Former Silver Ferns coach Yvonne Willering discusses the shock decision to drop Dame Noelene Taurua

What a mess NZ Netball is in right now. The CEO is also on holiday overseas apparently.

    Hmmm.
The team dynamic; why we love team sports; but when it goes wrong; uck!
Interesting to see how this one pans out from here.
If the players dont get some decent results going forward, they'll get smashed.
The Aussies will love this - look at them fighting amongst themselves - lovely!

Watching a replay of the 3rd test, hearing the umpire jabbering away reminds me how similar rugby refs sound these days 🙄

No Noeline TB? I guess she will take over again next season?

was at the first test on Saturday, watched Sunday and yesterday, its lovely to see the consistency that NZ manages to have across different sports, Nweke seems to be as invisible to umpires as McCaw was to referees. Not sure i saw her get called more than once or twice for contact. Great events though, really enjoyed being in the stand, although my drunken Twickenham style 'Come on England' shouts were not perhaps as welcome at the Copper Box

Nweke is an amazing athlete. Great hands, outstanding body control and greater mobility than Irene Van Dyk. I don't know the stats but she looks taller than her opposing defender in a game where height really matters

yep, she was incredible, plus creates so much space for her goal attack. She definitely likes to put herself about a bit though, some of the contact calls against the England GK / GD should defo have gone the other way! Not complaining though. Also have to credit the accuracy of balls into the circle to her.

England were better than I expected them to be, particularly through centre court, just couldn't get it done in the last 15 mins of the 3rd match - they looked exhausted tbh.

Oh and since i'm a man posting on a rugby forum about netball, i think its only fair that I mention that Housby is still hot af

I keep waiting for Nweke to get pinged out of a game. She does give out a fair bit of contact, especially with an arm as she goes up for the ball.

Other girls seem to go flying when she's around.... Having said that, contrary to its image netball is a low contact sport and the biggest and the strongest have an advantage. She seems to have a neck I'm not making her physicality obvious. Until the others are falling over at least...

It's like basketball. Contact is not allowed, but contact happens.

Back a few years ago when daughter was playing was chatting with coaches who said it's now described as a semi-contact sport, as opposed to non-contact.

Ahead of the Hammetteur? Surely not!

seriously though, our sports orgs do not seem well governed at the moment. Rugby, Cricket, Netball - basket cases. League has been consistently 'interesting'. Why is this so hard?
