What are you listening to, right now................

Billy Corgan on his Rogan chat was saying something about this. I think his point was the record companies went and bought the streaming services so they could continue to fuck the artists.
-
That is the thing I hate about spotify - that the artists are not getting paid what they should be for it. However, I realistically mainly listen to music that I originally bought the CD for anyway ...
Some geeza with more time than me has created The Trip playlists based on the classic NZ compilation albums ... Thats pretty much so my rotation of late.
Killing in the name of came on over family dinner last night .. had to discreetly get up and change the track early doors (phones are banned from the dinner table in the rage house).

My old band is on Spotify. Second single with yours truly on Bass. Given that I don't think I'm quite going to get the same sort of listening numbers as Peter Frampton I might have to put my plans of retiring and living off royalties on hold.
Whats the band? Will defo have a listen.

You raise two good points. Firstly, I mainly listen to music I purchased years ago. I doubt I'm the only person who finds it slightly irritating to have to pay again because the delivery media has altered. In fact for a long time in Australia it was a crime to make a copy of music you had paid for, or to change the format; i.e. buy a record and instead of listening to that, putting it onto CD, or an iPod...
The second is unless streaming services are priced low enough, people simply pirate in which case you won't get a goddamn cent no matter how many times it's played.

I have bought a fuck ton of music, they got their money from me. At $30 for a CD in the 90s I reckon I've paid my dues.
Killing in the Name is on regular rotation. I'll play half of it if the kids are around. My boys love Bullet in the Head.
When my son was wandering around the house singing Fugazi the other day I thought how much I was nailing parenting

@MajorRage I can't find those trip playlists. Can you provide more info?
I already did the first one for myself, but i also liked the 2nd and 3rd compilations

@mariner4life Created by Topsify NZ it says

@mariner4life Fugazi ... the ultimate one-hit wonder (for me). Waitng Room.
Tried to listen to the album it was on once about 20 years ago and couldn't get involved beyond the one song. Never tried again!

After listening to Waiting Room just now I can't even get into the one hit wonder. What is weird is I have no knowledge of their music, well I should say memory, because I had mates who used to be big fans and there's no chance I wouldn't have heard them at their place or in their cars.
-
The Trip compilations really went down hill as they got higher in numbers didn't they?
-
@mariner4life Much like the "grunge" and "alternative" music they drew from. What was there, about one year of good "grunge"?

@mariner4life You'd be better off abandoning the music of your teenage years for something created for adults, like some Steely Dan.
