What are you listening to, right now................

@Nevorian absolute classic
Can’t remember if I’ve posted this already but this is Adrian Borland from The Sound doing an acoustic version. He was a contemporary and big fan of Ian Curtis, probably in part due to sharing mental health issues. Anyway, what I love about Adrian’s version is that he strips the song back to emphasise the lyrics which highlights just how stunning the song is.

@Crucial that is indeed a great version, haven't heard any of is music before, might check some out for my playlist.
I'm in the opposite camp, reminds me of that guy with a guitar in a hipster bar type.

I'm not sure if you listened past the first two verses (I agree that it is a bit 'busker' to that point) as he builds quietly to the essence of the song. At least he doesn't try and ham it up all the way through like some versions I have heard.
If you know the background story to the singer you will also understand that he probably understands the song as well as Curtis wrote it. Listen to his own work at the same period. Different style but quite obviously all about his own demons.
Borland lasted a lot longer than Curtis but they ended up in the same place. (Borland eventually jumped in front of a train at Wimbledon Station) -

I'm gonna watch this even though Motley Crue were at best a pretty fucken ordinary band.
I can't imagine how good the equivalent GnR movie would be.
Kickstart My Heart and Dr Feelgood are as good a rock tracks as you are going to hear. The rest i could easily take or leave.
A decent GnR movie could never be made. Not sure the egos in play could handle it.
Teaser would be my favourite song of theirs but in terms of great rock acts they're firmly in the lower division for me.
I don't totally disagree with you, but 41 million albums is a shit load
-
@mariner4life So a similar number to Rick Astley then

I think the cut off would be about 100 million at least to put them in that very top bracket.

is anyone arguing they are in the top bracket? Any one at all?
I would struggle to name more than 3 songs.
@Machpants i would say old Rick had a broader appeal that a dirty hair metal band from LA.

Well you said 41 million is a shit load....exact words.
Rick got covered by the Foos, that probably gave the career a boost.

This list won't go that low
I'm depressed I live in a world where Justin Beiber has sold as much as he has.

And Rihanna is one of the greatest musical artists ever.
Whilst I’m not the biggest fan of her music, she does have a phenomenal singing voice. One of the best I’ve heard

Axle is a complete fluffybunny, the Steve Adler book proved that. I’m amazed they stayed together as long as they did

Yeah but musical brilliance more often than not goes alongside complete shitcuntery......
Either that or kiddy fiddling.

Look at Soundgarden - they had bodyguards protecting themselves from band members at one stage.
