This is not going to be everyone's cup of tea, but think this version brings out the despair and sadness in the lyrics (and drug addiction) that I never really noticed in the original. I found it quite moving. The bit where Stipe starts singing after speaking the opening lines gives me shivers.
It's up there with The Needle and the Damage Done for me.

Beautiful woman and under-rated singer (in comparison to some contempories). Her version of Heard it through the Grapevine is preferable to Marvin's IMO and I am a big Marvin fan. -
