@dogmeat They have shared history. Tim and Neil were both on his K Scope album with the rest of the 801 guys.

Sophie Ellis Bextor - I've always thought she's seriously fucking hot so watched her for this. I wasn't disappointed, although she's hot in a mum sort of way these days. Really only has one song, so sung mainly covers plus that. Good eye candy for a middle aged bloke.

Saw her singing before she became uber-famous - about 1999? She was bloody great, sang a load of stuff from different genres and had a great range. She really impressed my ex, who was a semi-pro singer who knew her stuff on vocalists

Her Read my Lips album is really good.

Downloaded the Album El Mirage after hearing a snippet on a George Martin documentary.

    Fuck it's good.

no one but @Tim is going to appreciate this but

i found an old documentary on Amazon about the birth of thrash metal. And pretty much since then i've just been listening to people play real fast

These dudes are as OG as it comes with Bay area Thrash bands. Kirk Hammett formed them, then fucked off to join Metallica and make a billion dollars.

Just relentless driving thrash guitar, shrieky vocals, squealing solo. it's got everything. Where is my cut-off denim jacket

Big 4 thrash, way more refined. Dave Lombardo is nearly my favourite drummer

According to analysis of Discog members' stated collections these are the 'most popular' albums of each decade since the 1950s.
These obviously aren't sales or popularity at the time but most collected/purchased over time listed by release date.

50s Some Kind of Blue - Miles Davis
    60s Sgt Peppers - Beatles
70s Dark Side of the Moon - Pink Floyd
    80s Thriller - Michael Jackson
    90s Nevermind - Nirvana
00s Back to Black - Amy Winehouse
10s Random Access Memories - Daft Punk

Some surprising results among each year but what doesn't surprise me, going by the posts from you lot of a 'certain age' is the period from late 80s through to mid 90s

    86 - Metallica
    87 - G&R
    88 - Metallica
    89 - Nirvana
    90 - Depeche Mode (??)
    91 - Nirvana
    92 - RATM
    93 - Nirvana
    94 - Nirvana

That Cobain guy would be filthy rich if he had bothered to hang around (or maybe he wouldn't)

All that Nirvana shows how bad the early 1990s were. I bet most purchases were post-Cobain's death because, you know, it was cool and hip to have a copy of Nevermind in your collection. Metallica would be the same, as the popularity of the Black Album (released in 1991) would have got non-thrash fans to buy their earlier albums.

What the fuck ? Anyone that doesn’t absolutely love that era isn’t a rock fan.

@Tim today's shocking stat is that the song Hell on Wheels by Fu Manchu has a grand total of 377,467 plays on Spotify. That is astounding to me.

As I know he loves them so much, this is for @MN5

One of their better songs and the B-side to the song talked about above.

I'm a recent Spotify convert (from Apple Music) and I'm loving it. I'm currently making a playlist looking back at the bands from the 2007 Summersonic concert, which was a brilliant couple of days (and no, I didn't go to the Offspring).
