It was incessant. I stand corrected…….sort of……. Google confirms these guys have been prolific but ask your average person on the street to name a second song of theirs and they’ll very likely stare blankly. I'd have struggled on the first tbh Really ? It’s a song that everyone knows I would have thought even if they don’t know the name of the band. It really isn't one that ever stuck in my consciousness. I just went and read about it to work out what the story was. Seems that when I was about 9 it was just among the top 100 songs of the year with a fleeting appearance at top 10.
Seems, however that it had a resurgence in popularity through covers and recognition in rock circles in the 80s and 90s (not really in my music sphere). Almost a cult thing rather than crossover popularity. You can see why. It would have a lot of respect musically among those circles.
I recognise the song but wouldn't have recalled it off the cuff.

@broughie said in What are you listening to, right now................: @MN5 I like that but also like midnight moody’s, happy ways, meadows and daydream. I like that classic organ in days gone by. Also nothing beats a good flute solo when done right as well !

The stand out song on a wonderful night of singing at the Principality Stadium on Saturday Sir Tom Jones Cwmbach Male Voice Choir (my Dad’s choir) singing ‘We’ll Keep A Welcome in the Hillside’ and our National Anthem ‘Mae Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau’ Stereophonics with a 2hr tour de force

@MiketheSnow looks like it was an awesome night. Last time I saw the Stereophonics play was as second support to Paul Weller at a Teenage Cancer Trust gig at Royal Albert Hall and most of the crowd was still at the bar. I think they had had some time off playing and were just starting up again. Anyway I assume you were singing along to this one. …

Yet, they seem to be (in Wales anyway). I saw them at same stadium in late 2003 (I think). Was brilliant.
