See you missed having this great stuff as a teenager.

Naaa. Give me 5-10 years either way for truly great eras of music. That list is way too 'punk'.....and reggae. I do love Ian Dury and Talking Heads though.

Can I just say I love Spotify. It's like Netflix for music.
-
MN5 may be a piston wristed gibbon who massively over rates the Chilli Peppers but really BSSM is a fucking brilliant 90s alt rock album.

I've only actually just installed Spotify this week ....
It's awesome, but weirdly, it doesn't have Biscuits EP by Living Colour.

@Nepia Are you going to see Living Colour when they tour Aust in May?
I saw them at Soundwave in Sydney a few years back in a shorter set so I'm looking forward to their gig in Auckland.
Yep, definitely, I missed seeing them in 1993 in Wellington because I was on a rugby tour in Sydney.

I found Them Crooked Vultures in Sanity today - only remembered to buy it because the kids were looking in the store next door. Surprisingly, there it was.
Girl behind the counter asked if I wanted to sign up to their loyalty scheme.
"This is the first physical album I have bought in years. And only because its not on Google Play"
She seemed disappointed, which was a shame because she was quite fit.

Was looking for free music for some YouTube clips, and came across a bunch of rock stuff by a guy called Ethan Meixsell.
Solid and awesome shredding. Most of his shit is available for free via YouTube, but give the guy a credit if you ever use it somewhere.

So who went to any of the GNR concerts in Auckland or Sydney? Were they any good? Reviews seem to suggest good, but Axl can't sing.
Nah, I reckon Axl still has most of his pipes! It was epic at Western Springs.
Wicked crowd too. All similar age and only two people I saw hiffed out and they would have been under 30. (One of them talking about his rights on the way out the door... Gold!)
Slash holds court and Duff is amazing up front.
Comeplteley worth it and we shelled out for this concert.

@Tim Fun journey fact .... when I moved to HK 12 years ago, I used to frequent a live music club called the cavern. Anyway they had an in-house live band, usual story, bunch of talented guys from the Philippines would get up there and play 6 days a week, often in front of 5 people, sometimes with the place sold out.
The lead singer of that house band, is now the lead singer of Journey.
-
@MajorRage There is a doco called "Don't Stop Believin': Everyman's Journey" which is about Arnel Pineda's journey (pun intended) from you tube singer to the lead singer of the band. The doco highlights his background in the Philippines and shows footage of some of his earlier bands.
He sounds very similar to Steve Perry and was really good live when I saw them a few years back.
