Andrew Strawbridge will join Steve Borthwick’s management team as an assistant coach and coaching advisor ahead of England’s summer Tour to Japan and New Zealand.

The 59-year-old Kiwi was recently part of the England coaching set-up, spending the first four weeks of the 2024 Guinness Six Nations campaign as a consultant coach, and Borthwick is delighted to welcome Strawbridge back into his coaching group on a permanent basis.

“Andrew made a huge impression during the time he spent with us at this year’s Six Nations,” said Borthwick.

“From the moment he walked into the environment, I was hugely impressed with his attention to detail, the clarity of his coaching philosophy and the different perspectives he has on the game.

“His extensive coaching experience in Super Rugby and the international arena, as well as his expertise in player development, complements our existing coaching group well.

“I’m excited that he’ll back with us as we prepare for the summer Tour to Japan and New Zealand.”

      And because of this:

Andrew Strawbridge will leave his post as Waikato’s Director of Rugby to take up a new position as part of England Rugby’s coaching staff ahead of the England’s tour to Japan and New Zealand in July.

@sparky said in Blues v Brumbies:

Irish fans going to games and spending money on tickets has helped drive their national side up the World Rankings.

I'd say a large part of that is New Zealanders coaching them, New Zealanders and Australians playing for them, and an Australian setting up their administration.

@antipodean Yes, but they can afford their wages and they have been building big, state of the art coaching academies to support their work.

@MiketheSnow That's some keen pricing - especially when compared to Twickenham. Good to see.

                  Yes.

                  I was pleasantly surprised.

It is interesting that the cost is so closely related to the opponent, IME ABs games are not. The pricing might be a bit different, but really it is about the ABs.

Stadium in France absolutely rammed for Woman’s 6N finale. Awesome to see.

Match worthy but England far too good so far, French fun to watch but not accurate enough for the game they are playing.

They won by 'only' 21 points versus 3rd best team in world. England women's rugby is in its own League, so far ahead of everyone else. Not winning the rwc was the biggest choke in rugby ever, and required an early red

Yes, it's up to others to lift their game though, which France clearly have been doing (which is the over arching point).

Mitchell has made England more expansive hasn't he? At least that was his intention based on quotes I read.

They play a very professional game. Huge forwards set the platform then the backs take advantages of holes on the back of it. It's decent watching.

Ellie Kildunne reminds me of Christian Cullen. I don’t make the comparison lightly

Can't say I see it, whenever I looked up at the game the other week she was powering through a tackler with power, rather than making them trip over their own feet.
