            @ShadowTrooper said in Chiefs 2019:

            Any news on Kane Hames?

They said they expect him back in with the AB contingent the other day. Was in linked report from practice game against Blues

So, what will be the Chiefs' XXIII for the early rounds?

              1. Ross
              2. Harris
              3. Laulala
              4. Retallick
              5. Ardron
              6. Jacobson
              7. Boshier
              8. Seu
              9. TTT
              10. McKenzie
              11. Alaimalo
              12. Lienert Brown
              13. Manu
              14. Wainui
              15. Stevenson
              16. Hames
              17. Taukei'aho
              18. Ta'avao
              19. Allardice
              20. Brown
              21. Weber
              22. Debreczeni
              23. Nanai-Seturo

Should be a very good tight five, but loose forwards lack depth and class without Cane. Not much depth in midfield either.

Will Ardron get much time at 8?

I think that the Chiefs will need TTT starting playoff games if they want to beat NZ teams at that stage. Hopefully they will give him plenty of time in the regular season.

I can easily see Wainui losing that wing spot. Cooper said that Nanai-Seturo and the Tongan winger from Japan have been very good during the pre-season.

                      @Dice

                      Let’s hope.

He’s been pretty good for us, but isn’t really a Super level starter. Looks like a good squaddie - and since it’s the Chiefs and we have wafer thin depth out there, I’ll bet he plays plenty anyway.

@gt12 I really don't get the Wainui hate, he's been good for the Chiefs. To say he's not worthy of starting? Sheesh.

I don't hate him, and I'll bet he gets plenty of game time, but I think he's a better midfielder, and seems pretty slow for a winger. Other teams have players like Rayasi fighting for a bench spot (at least, at the start) while we have him pencilled in our first choice winger...

I don't think he's a very successful super level starter. He's done that job when called upon after injuries and hasn't stunk up the joint, but he's not the future and IMO he'd be the worst starting winger in the country, if that's what happens.

I'll be happy if he plays fantastically - I'm a Chiefs fan.

However, I think we should have recruited better.

What about Atu Moli ? Is he fit again ?

It really does pay to read some of the stuff posted in the thread....

The Chiefs have received good news about other injured players, and will welcome back All Blacks prop Atu Moli and loose forward Mitch Brown. Brown ruptured his ACL in the early stages of last season, while Moli had complications with a quad haematoma he suffered in last year’s season opener.
“I don’t want to curse them, but we’re really positive about having those players available this season,” Matson said.
“They’re key contributors and key to our success so we’re all excited to have them back in. They look like they’ve been training hard so next Monday they’ll join the flock and take the lead in some areas.
