7s can be hard to watch with the standard of reffing

That Fiji v Argies game was probably the pick of the games so far.

The reffing this weekend was appalling so many errors it’s like there using 7s to test how there refs are

Put it this way; Rasta was considered a good 7s ref.

If Eddie Nketia sticks with rugby, I can see him being involved in the NZ7s environment next year.

What sort of car€€r$ are there in sevens, though, lads?

NZ or Aus, I wouldn't have thought especially mu¢h.

@Kiap guessing more than sprinting unless you are world class? From what I have read the kid is not expected to be a world force at senior level because he is not the quickest starter, so 200m might be his best bet.

On the other hand, if he's running that quick without a good start, imagine how fast he'll be when he cracks the starting.

@Crazy-Horse Yeah, world class is fair likely out of reach for now. But best in the country, particularly if he can eventually crack 10 sec, might still bring some pretty decent sponsorship deals.

Could aim at being the next Perry Baker but I reckon he took at least three years to establish himself, and the 7s squad guys aren't on a big baseline wedge - many average working joes willing to put in hours would make more.

A more likely trajectory IMO would be to give sprinting a shot first. After 3-4 years he can still have a go at a contact sport like rugby.

He already has rugby experience from what I understand so I am guessing that gives him a head start on Perry Baker, whom I am assuming had to learn the game from scratch.

I am expecting the Aussies will get their grubby little hands on him anyway. He would be their best bet for money.

@Machpants Yup. Kurt Baker getting yellow at 14 all and time almost up. Argies scored in 16th minute.

Terrible all weekend with such basic errors you wonder if they're the same guys that played so well earlier in the year.

Chabal would be a terrific bass player with those massive mitts of his though.

I'm also gonna go out and say that this is better than the original. I was in the Hawkes Bay doing some vineyards over the weekend and there was a poster for the Proclaimers who played recently and look like a pair of old lesbians.

Can anyone imagine actually sitting through a Proclaimers concert ? you'd spend the whole time waiting for "500 Miles" and they'd play it last.

....and while it's a catchy singalong song it's actually really shit.

Chey Robins-Reti, who was a contracted member of the team in 2017, has been recognised for strong performances in the development team with a national call up.

Michaela Blyde, Kelly Brazier, Gayle Broughton, Theresa Fitzpatrick, Huia Harding, Kat Whata-Simpkins and Portia Woodman are all unavailable for selection due to injury and illness.

Assistant coach Cory Sweeney will be at the helm of the team for the upcoming tournament, with Head Coach Allan Bunting granted leave for health reasons.

The Black Ferns Sevens currently lead the World Series standings, winning the first three tournaments of the season, with three remaining.

“A good result in Japan will go a long way in securing that Olympic Qualifying berth which has been the big goal this season.”

And if you can't get enough of that, Old Sea Bass has done a video:

                                        Jesus Christ.......

Apparently World Rugby were delighted by the publicity that the singing Sebastian Chabal got in Hong Kong and will use Sea Bass again as "entertainment " later in the year in Japan.

Get ready for Chabal belting out "Delilah", "Lady Godiva" or "I am the Walrus" before Rugby World Cup games.

With that voice and look if I were his manager I’d probably suggest some sort of death metal type project but there’s no denying people love a good novelty act like him, Vanilla Ice or the tubby Asian guy who sang ‘Gangnum style’
