To think that the Aussie Schools WTG was already picked mid July, and then trimmed back late August, the Aussies have had much more time to prepare for these games than NZ Schools. If NZ had had more time, no doubt they would have played better.

@stargazer I wouldn't confuse how long they've been picked with how often they've been able to train. The big difference between these two teams is in the tight five and the fullback.

Try to the Aussies after a line-out maul.

    19-7 NZ

@antipodean I didn't say they had all that time to train together. But I assume they had some trials or training together. How else would they have trimmed the team between mid-July and late August.

That should be a card. High tackle.

    Edit: apparently not. Penalty only.

Probably just from watching school finals as they developed over those months. I doubt Aussie Rugby have the money to send school players to a centralised location to train. WTG may have allowed them to keep more tabs on fitness levels etc though through those months where as NZ may have bit more faith in their schools programmes. Similar with Wallabies & Super Rugby coaches versus NZ.

I've only been watching from 38 minutes on, but the ref has been pretty good IMO. That one could have been a YC but he asked the assistant ref who had a better view of it and said no card.

The bench is making a difference. Chapman, Thompson, Sullivan.

He has had an absolute blinder. Especially considering the conditions.

How could that second Aust try be awarded? If the player is part of the ruck he can't pick the ball up.

    Otherwise the ref was fine.

Awesome opportunity for these Aussie schoolboys. It would be awesome if our youngsters would be able to go on tour to Europe as well.

Under 18s players join Australian Schools touring squad for first time

Brief highlights of the match vs Ireland U19s. Woeful goal kicking from both kickers.

I'm not sure of the results from their 2 tour games before this test.
