Luckily I didn't see any of NZ's innings (plural) but a big congratulations to CdG for his highest score on tour.

NZ broke all sorts of batting records in this test too. But not in a good way.

Shah 14 wickets. Take a bow. An awesome performance even with our out of sorts batting lineup.

How is it out of sorts? It's actually a strong line up on paper albeit with a long tail.

It’s out of sorts because it’s not performing consistently. Our bowling has been far more competitive.

Parker Posey has not aged well. 100% would not bang.

The good news - NZ wins the toss and will bat.

Somehow CdG retains his place but Southee is in for Wagner and Somerville will make his debut as he replaces Sodhi.

Crucial toss to win. Hoping you reverse jinx CdG and he goes big and deep in this game.

                Latham is out early.

I thought Southee may have come in for Boult as Wagner is the workhorse. No need for CdG to open the bowling now but he'll be expected to bowl a lot of overs and contain them.

@bovidae Tommy is having a lean run - averaging just 23 in his last 10 tests.

70-3, Raval and then Taylor out. First baller fro Taylor, hat trick on

Terrible ball to get first up with no bounce. But that gap between bat and pad doesn't help!

You know who has to score plenty of runs in this innings.

Given how shit CdG has been with the bat we are effectively playing 5 specialist bowlers. Not sure that's the right approach if we keep getting knocked over so cheaply.

@donsteppa I wondered about that. Chase the 20 wickets and use rotation to counter the huge innings and partnerships seen in the last test.

Bank on 2 big innings from the top 4

But whichever way you dice it, it's a bit grim with Southee at 7

@siam Haven't double checked it, but I read a comment while checking the score earlier suggesting both Wagner and Sodhi have troubled the scorers more in this series than CdG.

                                        So let's hope he's due 🙂

@donsteppa They have - and so has Patel.

Though to be fair those three have aggregated 26, 22 and 21 runs to Colin's 17, so it's not like any of them have done much better than a random Fern member taking some dirty swipes!
