One final T20 in Auckland to go, because apparently the biggest city in NZ should just get the odd shits & giggles match and nothing much else.

You should petition Jacinderella to start issuing large oval postage stamps - then you could play cricket on one of those instead of the tiny mis-shapen one you currently use! 🙂

It's an absolute embarrassment that Auckland doesn't have a suitable international cricket ground.

Come to Nelson - we've got a brand new and marvelous drainage system under Traf. Park - our rugby test venue!

(There's a barb in this that's not necessarily aimed at you)! 🙂

He's an automatic pick in both main formats in an all time NZ XI. Simple as that. Not a huge number who can claim that.

Given he bats #4 in tests - unless I pick either him or Marty out of position, I have to leave one of them out, but I can't do that so I would have Marty at #4 and Roscoe at #5. in ODIs, I actualy think Roscoe is the superior batsman, something I never thought I would say...but his late career surge is so impressive and he owns the best ever ODI innings by a NZer - having taken the time to watch that game in full a couple of times - that 181*, once you take into account match situation, personal travails and the quality of the opposition - just sublime.

@Siam to me it looked like he was struggling for form and was trying to play aggressive cricket to get back into form. I agree it looked bad, and was a culmination of his series to date. That sort of innings is an exception though, I couldn't count the number of times he's bailed us out of a hole in the past which is why some people think the word "disgrace" is a bit strong.

@MN5 watching him over there he displayed all the batting nous of CDG. His last innings was a disgrace to all that he is and all that he's achieved.

I suspect his eventual book will mention it, such the outlier it was

Fuck I didn't realise BC fans were now AB Fans.

CDGH has been a decent test all rounder for the Caps thanks very much.

CDG to my mind has demonstrated he has the technique and skillset to be more than a hand-eye batsman on batting friendly pitches...Admittedly he has knuckled down and played a responsible watchful innings in line with the match/innings situations but that was actually more underlining the criticisms of his mental fortitude at test level. I'd rtaher have the neesh, who does actually have a solid technique to back up his hand-eye attributes. A lot of CDG's shots are made with minimal to nil foot work and the bat far away from the body and certainly not under the eyes. CDG is if anything a burgeoning Nathan Astle.

Santner I do not get the love for...the attraction must be that he's a left arm orthodox spinner which in T20 and ODI is bloody useful. Left arm spinners are much rarer in cricket full stop, and that allows them just that extra amount of time of adjustment for the majority of batsmen, (excluding the top 30)

                      Love for Santner?

Maybe it's because he's recently been the No. 1 ranked T20 bowler in the world and No. 7 in ODIs.

Plus he can hold a bat.

                      What's not to like?

To be honest, I don't really recall seeing him being "ridiculously hyped".

Given that he's going to basically be a Shane Warne who scores test centuries, I'd say the excitement about him has been understated. 🙂

I woulda assumed someone woulda got a triple ton in oz at least once.

                          Obviously not.

                          Shot Rossco.

As for Paddles he took the catch in the one wicket he didn't take. Legend.

It reminds me of a story I heard where him and Jeff Crowe had a massive partnership vs Sri Lanka. Both got tons and whoever got there first would have scored the 100th century for New Zealand in tests. JC was batting in the top order, Paddles around 7-8 and when this stat was known did Paddles bow to poor old Jeff who even then woulda been in Marty's shadow ?

Did he fuck, Paddles accelerated and got the 100th ton for NZ ( Jeff got the 101st ) to go with every other bowling record under the sun.

Perhaps the Aussies were right when they chanted that name that rhymes with banker....

Re the Neesh, three games back and he is injured again. Not sure we are ever going to see the best of him because he cannot string games together.

He is made of porcelain. In terms of injuries he is like a poor man's Jacob Oram, heading into Shane Bond vitreous china territory

Wonder what our greatest broken XI would look like:

                              Oram
                              Bond
                              Loveridge
                              Murphy Sua?
                              Heath Davis?

                              I'm reaching now ...

He blew up after retiring. Still, we'll always have 1999

It's damn tough for ex-athletes. Mark Richardson blew up as well, but maaned to get on top of it. Now a bit of a multisport guy.

I had no excuse. Just like beer and meat too much
